Forgive Me
Le Loup Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I don't know
why the notes don't want me
why the notes don't want me
And I don't know
why the ghosts don't haunt me
why the ghosts don't haunt me
But of the rocks left in my road
I couldn't love a single stone
if the road won't take me home
if the road won't take me home

Please forgive me
I have been ungrateful
I've forgotten
where it was I came from
and all the friends who loved me
and all the gifts they gladly gave
and all the silence they've received

How it cuts me to the bone
how it cuts me to the bone

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Le Loup's Forgive Me speak to feelings of alienation and being disconnected from one's surroundings. The song opens with the singer expressing confusion over why they don't seem to fit in or belong. They wonder why they can't connect with the music they hear ("why the notes don't want me") or feel the presence of ghosts ("why the ghosts don't haunt me").

The next set of lyrics reflect on the past and the way the singer has been ungrateful. They have forgotten where they came from and the people who have supported and loved them. The line "all the silence they've received" hints at a lack of communication or reciprocation with these loved ones. The weight of this realization "cuts me to the bone" and the singer begs for forgiveness.

Overall, Forgive Me is a reflection on the pain of feeling disconnected from others and the longing for connection and belonging. The music itself adds to the haunting atmosphere of the song with electronic beats and layered vocals.

One of the best songs I've ever heard.

funtimeadventures

I remember this song affected me so much. i must have heard it on a college raido show and been tortured trying to figure it out. I forgot about the song, but then i looked at a list of everyone signed to hardly art, and i was remembered, "there is a son by this band that is so good that i wrote it down on a scrap of paper and tried to remember it for a long time and did, but i guess i forgot it." i think it was wmbr where i heard it.

If I had three wishes, two of them would be for this band to get back together. Seems like they just dropped off the face of the Earth.

What would your third wish be?
