The Christmas rush is through
But I still have one wish to make
A special one for you
Merry Christmas, Darling
We're apart, that's true
But I can dream, and in my dream
Holidays are joyful
There's always something new
But everybody's a holiday
When I'm near to you
The lights on my tree, I wish you could see
I wish it everyday
The logs on the fire fill me with desire
To see you and to say
That I wish you Merry Christmas
Happy New Year too
I've just one wish on this Christmas eve
I wish I were with you
The logs on the fire fill me with desire
To see you and to say
That I wish you Merry Christmas
Happy New Year too
I've just one wish on this Christmas eve
I wish I were with you
I wish I were with you
Lea Salonga's song "Merry Christmas Darling" is a heartfelt Christmas love song that expresses the yearning of a person to be with their loved one during the holiday season. The lyrics express a deep sense of loneliness and longing, and the joy that being with one's beloved could bring.
The first verse of the song speaks of the end of the Christmas rush, but the singer is still left with one special wish - that she could be with the one she loves. Despite being apart, she dreams of spending Christmas with him, and the holidays are made more joyful when she's near him. The second verse speaks of the lights on the singer's tree, and how she wishes her loved one could see it, wishing for his presence every day. The logs on the fire symbolize her burning desire to see him and to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to him.
The chorus of the song repeats the singer's wish for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to her loved one, and ends with the powerful statement that her only wish on this Christmas Eve is that she were with him. The final verse repeats the longing for the loved one, with the logs on the fire symbolizing the singer's burning desire to be with him.
Overall, the song is a beautifully crafted expression of love and longing during the festive season.
