After dropping out of college, Leah began pursuing a record deal as a solo artist while working at a restaurant, all the while honing her act in the clubs of Sand Diego and Los Angeles. She was able to pass along a demo to some RCA record execs who dined at her restaurant, signing Andreone exactly 24 hours later, after witnessing a live performance.
Her first release, 1996's alterna-pop Veiled was a major hit in France (along with it's single, "It's Alright, It's OK"), which led to an appearance with the inaugural Lilith Fair Tour.
Hooking up with heavy rock producer Bob Marlette for her next album, 1998's Alchemy, naturally led to a heavier and more varied sound, including cameos by Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and Marilyn Manson/Two/David Lee Roth guitarist John Lowery.
In 2006, Leah released her first Indie EP of demos called "Unlabeled-The Demos" which includes 7 songs. The songs on the EP will be on her record but no longer in demo form. These demos are Leah's way of "thinking out loud" before she commits to production. They are a brief peak into the creative process and what really happens before the produced version of a record comes out.
Sunny Day

Get a screw I got the pliers
Hold her down
I'll move with ease
Take away her feel nothing disease
Rub it till she feels fire
I'll make her starve to feel desire
Tempt her vice
Take away her feel nothing disease
Got a feeling she's feeling nothing
And I really think she might be a
Machine that breathes involuntary
Palpitations a heart that cannot
Bleed overwhelm her we could film
Her everybody scream
Hey hey it's a sunny day
Happy took the rain away
There's more to it than what you got yesterday
Hey hey it's a sunny day
Hey hey it's a sunny day
Take it off and fly away
The skin is showing on the birds today
Hey hey it's a sunny day
Show her too many things
Overstimulation brings
Lots of wants and lots of needs
Take away her feel nothing disease
Got a feeling she's feeling nothing
And I really think she might be a
Machine that breathes involuntary
Palpitations a heart that cannot
Bleed overwhelm her we could film
Her everybody scream
Hey hey it's a sunny day
Happy took the rain away
There's more to it than what you got yesterday
Hey hey it's a sunny day
Hey hey it's a sunny day (I touched the sky)
Take it off and fly away
The skin is showing on the birds today (and I came back)
hey hey it's a sunny day
The lyrics in Leah Andreone's song Sunny Day describe a dark and disturbing message about the manipulation and exploitation of a woman who is emotionally numb and disconnected from feeling anything. The singer offers to "rewire" her by performing sexual acts on her and exposing her to overstimulation and temptation, all in an effort to make her feel desire and passion. The lyrics suggest that the woman is like a "machine that breathes involuntarily," with a heart that is unable to bleed. The singer even proposes to film her overwhelmed state and encourage others to scream, indicating a sadistic and voyeuristic element to the scenario.
The "sunny day" mentioned in the chorus appears to be a facade, representing a false sense of happiness that masks the disturbing reality of what is happening to the woman. The chorus repeats the phrase "hey hey it's a sunny day," as if trying to convince themselves that everything is okay and that they are having fun. However, the darker themes of the verses undermine this sense of joy and suggest a more sinister subtext to the song.
Overall, the lyrics of Sunny Day are haunting and unsettling, portraying a situation of power imbalance and exploitation that is deeply troubling.
