Seems I'm runnin' almost, all the time
I never look back, if someone follows close
I just pretend that my shadow's a ghost
I'm the outlaw...
Where will I run to next
Texas outlaw...
The Secret Service an' the C.I.A.
Everybody knows me by my firs' name
I pack my gun, in a totin' sack
Everybody's always on my back
I'm the outlaw...
Where will I run to next
Texas outlaw...
Where will I run to next
My body's achin' my heart is breakin' in two....
I'm tired of runnin' an' I wanna settle down
It seems I'm wanted in every town
From Dallas Texas on to San Antonio
The legend of my life goes on
Way down in Austin there's a girl who stole my heart
Her love is made of solid gold...
I gotta go
I gotta go
I' got to go
I gotta go
I gotta (go....)
City judge found me guilty of theft
He told me then that I was under arrest
A bail was paid, an' I skipped outta town
They're out there right now tryin' ta gun me down
I'm the outlaw...
Where will I run to next
Texas outlaw...
Where will I run to next
I'm the outlaw...
Where will I run to next
Texas outlaw...
Where will I run to next
I'm the outlaw...
Where will I run to next
The lyrics of Lee Aaron’s “Texas Outlaw” tell the story of a wild and lawless man on the run, constantly fleeing from the authorities. Despite the singer’s constant running, however, he feels like there is no escape and that he will eventually be caught. He is tired of living this life and wishes he could settle down with the woman he loves, but unfortunately for him, he is wanted in every town.
Throughout the song, the singer describes the various agencies that are after him, including the Secret Service and CIA, which suggests that he has committed significant crimes. He carries a gun with him at all times, and he feels like everyone is always on his back.
Towards the end of the song, the singer speaks of a girl in Austin who stole his heart. Her love is made of solid gold, which could be a reference to her being genuinely kind and caring. However, he cannot stay with her, as he is wanted and must keep running. The song ends with the singer once again questioning where he will run to next.
Overall, “Texas Outlaw” is a classic outlaw country song, telling the story of a man on the run who fears he will never find freedom or peace.
