Set Me Free
Lee Alan Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

(Set me free)
I got this horn, just the other day
(set me free)
From a man, who came a long, long way
(wow, you gotta set me free)
He said this horn, you understand
Has come from Pakistan
And when you’re all alone
If you pick a fine tone
You just wait and see
This horn, it’s gonna set you free

I took this horn (ah, beep beep beep)
Pakistan (ah, beep beep beep)
I took it home (ah, beep beep beep)
I mean, I almost ran (that night that he…)
And when I heard the fine tone
When I was all alone
All my wishes came true I mean
My dreams of you
It was something for the eyes to see
This horn, it like to set me free
(Ah, free me this horn
It like to set me free
Ah, free me this horn
It like to set me free)

Now if you’re feeling sad
(ah, beep beep beep)
I mean, you’re feeling real bad
(ah, beep beep beep)
You don’t know what to do
(ah, beep beep beep)
Your honey don’t want you
(your honey don’t want you)
Just turn on the radio you’re
Your lights down low
Close your eyes real tight
Think of your honey tonight
And when you hear the horn, you’ll see (beep)
You’ll know ‘cause what had happened to me
This horn, it like to set me free
(ah, beep beep beep)

Now if you’re feeling sad
(ah, beep beep beep)
I mean, you’re feeling real bad
(ah, beep beep beep)
Don’t know what to do (ah, beep beep beep)
Your honey don’t want you
(your honey don’t want you)
Just turn on the radio with
The lights down low
Close your eyes real tight
Think of your honey tonight
And when you hear the horn, you’ll see
You’ll know ‘cause what had happened to me
This horn, it like to set me free
(ah ah, free)
I mean (this horn, it like to set me free)

Ooh wee (ah ah, free)
Oh yeah (this horn, it like to set me free)

@MrRussKnight

Lee Alan, was one of Detroit's best known radio DJ's (WXYZ-Radio) and I would fall to sleep many week nights listening to him on radio. I had this record back then, but lost in a house fire in 1978. Thanks, for posting it, it brings back so many great memories of those day in the late 50's and 60's in Detroit.

@TheLostSingles

I remember hearing this on the radio since I listened to WXYZ AM 1270 in Detroit. Lee Alan was a great radio personality.

@borisismyspider

It amazes me to find old records like this anywhere. To the people who post this obscure stuff--HOORAY! Though maybe not as in the "mainstream" as the million selling records, it's great to hear songs I haven't heard in almost half a century. I didn't even know if anybody other than me bought it when it came out. Good old Lee Alan on the horn--Edgewater Park--Detroit's best days.

@alicephelps4845

I have this record somewhere in my basement. I loved listening to Lee Alan and his fine toned horn. Anyway, does anyone remember him talking about a krobe (sp?) knee?

@ldstephey

I may still have this record, somewhere.

@allaprimalady

Sounds goofy now but, back then this ultimate cOOL-!
