I install a mess load of security cameras. Today's cameras can record a HD picture and encode it so that the amount of space that the video takes up is miniscule after a month of straight recording. Also, today's cameras can be set to record on movement detection only so they are not just recording empty footage. When you see some crappy recoding on the news, it's because the owner is using crappy cameras, period. Some are still using 1980's cameras that record to VHS tapes. Anyone who knows the VHS format knows that the quality of that video degrades over time, especially if you constantly record over the tape multiple times.

A TON of the cameras you see on the market today come out of China. China is known for selling garbage but at the same time, you CAN get some quality cameras from there. It's not necessarily the name that is on the camera because a LOT of the camera brands that you see are being manufactured inside the same plant. It is the INTERNALS that make up the camera, which determine the quality and PRICE of the camera. Things like digital zoom and mechanical zoom are night and day different from each other, but people who don't know any better will just decide what they want by looking at the price tag. For the most part, you get what you pay for. As someone else also stated, they used film back in the day and that's why Humphry Bogart movies are still so crystal clear to this day.

As we say in the audio field, "Garbage in = garbage out." It you start with a quality camera, you will end up with a quality video. I have a video camera that cost $3000.00 back in 2003. The picture that camera puts out is darn near HD looking and that camera only records on tape. It's broadcast TV grade, just old as hell. But because it was so nice, you can still find them being sold on eBay today for around $400-$1200. That's pretty damn good for a 18-year old camera.

1. People are commenting on how calm the reporter is relating the shocking news. People back then were much more stiff upper lip and less emotional than now. The little bit of shock and emotion that does seep into his voice is plenty for the time period. Remember, he is a professional and the professional world was very much male-dominated back then.

Theres no doubt in my mind that Oswald fired at JFK but you'll never convince me he did it by himself. Ive always reserched the JFK assassination when i was in Dallas in May of 2019 that was the one place i wanted to go and see and i went down there and the first thing i noticed was that the spots where JFK was shot and the book depository its not as far of a shot as i thought it was looking at it in pictures and on TV but the grassy knoll is really really close to where the fatal shot was fired and the angle was spot on with what you saw in the video cause his head went back and to the left. I believe Oswald fired the first 2 bullets but the 3rd and fatal shot came from the grassy knoll

I believe this video was cut. Notice how there is a clear view of Oswald. All of a sudden someone is in front of the camera at the key moment Ruby acts. I recall as a kit you had a clear view of Ruby shooting Oswald. My initial impression was that the guys holding Oswald were allowing him to get shot.

Paul, confirmation bias runs big in your mind. They didn't allow Oswald to get shot, if by allow you mean a conscious setup. Security at that time was a world of difference than it is now and partially due to things like this.

The video was edited for television. Nothing more. Nothing less. And yes, there is still video out there with the clear view of Ruby shooting Oswald.

I still remember watching that live in 1963. Jack Ruby died before he could reveal why he killed Oswald. Jack Ruby wanted to be relocated for his own safety due to the information that he refused to reveal if he wasn't relocated.

It was a different time. Watch the movie Lincoln it shows how you can just walk to his carriage and ask the President a question. The White House was fully open to the public and you could literally just walk in and ask to see the President.
