Ready Or Not
Left Spine Down Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Left out here to save
Not a single hope for this world
Generation of decay
Flip the switch and take control
Am I part of the plan?
Have I really got the upper hand?
Take me back
Ready or not, just make it go
I'm comin' down to rock the boat
Ready or not, here I come
We've got no time to waste
Wake up and smell the plastic
This world is so elastic
Wake up to automatic
Lifestyles of homemade panic
Blood hot
Voltage on
Strapped tight
Target in sight
"Don't fall"
"Don't lose hold"
"Your mission just
Can't fold"
Remove me from this great unease
Remind me of my destiny
How the hell I got here
I don't recall
Seems like the last thing I'd expect
Is just what the doctor ordered
No time like now to heed
My long-awaited curtain call
It seems like the battle we've fought for years
Is finally worth something after all
"Take to the street your last word
Go out and make yourself heard
Don't be afraid to show them all just who they really are
Don't let a thing get in the way
Don't lose sight of the objective
And please remember we're all counting on you now"
I burn upon re-entry
For the crime of the century
I'm here to set aflame all that you have to offer and more
Can anyone imagine the risk that I am taking
I'm here to set things right
A final chance to stop the machine
The lyrics to Left Spine Down's song Ready or Not are laden with themes of rebellion and revolution. The opening lines suggest a sense of hopelessness and disillusionment with the state of the world, with the singer feeling trapped in a generation of decay. However, the chorus offers a sense of urgency and determination, with the singer imploring others to join them in rocking the boat and making a change.
The second verse emphasizes the need for action, presenting the image of a tightly strapped-in target with an urgent mission. Lines like "Wake up and smell the plastic" and "Lifestyles of homemade panic" suggest a society that is at once stagnant and chaotic. The bridge revisits the singer's personal struggle, asking to be removed from unease and be reminded of their destiny.
The final verse brings the focus back to the broader fight, with the singer burning upon re-entry and ready to set things right. The risk is great, but the stakes are high, as it appears that the battle they've fought for years may finally be worth something. The last lines suggest that the machine that the singer is fighting against is not just societal, but personal as well.

Underrated band, honestly. Underground recognition makes it feel more local and accessible but I mean LSD deserves at least 400,000 listeners, tops. Even more than that if need be.
