Baader-Meinhof Blues
Legião Urbana Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

A violência é tão fascinante
E nossas vidas são tão normais
E você passa de noite e sempre vê
Apartamentos acesos
Tudo parece ser tão real
Mas você viu esse filme também
Andando nas ruas
Pensei que podia ouvir
Alguém me chamando
Dizendo meu nome

Já estou cheio de me sentir vazio
Meu corpo é quente e estou sentindo frio
Todo mundo sabe e ninguém quer mais saber
Afinal, amar ao próximo é tão démodé

E esta justiça desafinada
É tão humana e tão errada
Nós assistimos televisão também
Qual é a diferença?
Não estatize meus sentimentos
Pra seu governo
O meu estado é independente

Já estou cheio de me sentir vazio
Meu corpo é quente e estou sentindo frio

Todo mundo sabe e ninguém quer mais saber
Afinal, amar ao próximo é tão démodé

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Baader-Meinhof Blues" by the Brazilian band Legião Urbana explore the theme of desensitization to violence and the resulting emptiness that some people feel. The opening lines state that violence is fascinating, and yet our lives are so ordinary. The singer sees the lights on in apartments at night, giving the impression of normality, but then questions whether it is all real or if it is just like the movies they have seen. As they walk the streets, they think they hear someone calling their name, adding to their sense of anxiety and unease.

The chorus expresses the singer's feelings of emptiness and paradoxical sensations of being both hot and cold at the same time. They observe that everyone knows about the problems in the world, yet no one wants to do anything about them. The line "loving thy neighbor is so outdated" suggests a lack of empathy and a focus on individualism rather than community.

The second verse further critiques the justice system and questions the difference between watching violence on television and experiencing it in real life. The singer asserts their independence and opposes the imposition of government control on their feelings.

Overall, the song critiques the dehumanization of society and the effects of constant exposure to violence and apathy towards it. The lyrics suggest a longing for individuality and authenticity in a world that seems fake and empty.
