She was discovered by the musical duo Rob'n'Raz when she placed second in the 1989 swedish rap championship. They liked her music and offered her a recording contract. Together with Rob'n'Raz she had her first hit in 1989 with the song "Got To Get" (#8 UK, #3 Germany).
During the first years of her career she had many chart-topping hits and her music was played all over Europe. She broke up with Rob'n'Raz and went on her own to Ibiza, where she was treated like a superstar and managed to set up concerts on her own. Her solo career started in 1991 with the single "Time" which she followed up with many other popular singles, such as her biggest hit "Open Sesame" (#23 UK, #5 Germany) and a cover version of the punk song "Ca plane pour moi" (#13 Germany). In 1993 she was the best selling female artist in Europe.
Leila K's wild lifestyle led her into trouble; her motto was "life is just a party". She did not make much money in 1994 and at the end of the year, she owed the Swedish tax collectors 122 000 SEK (about 17 000 USD).
In 1995 Leila K was back on the music scene with the hit single "Electric". She kept releasing new music until 1997, but since then nothing new has been released by her.
In 1998, Göran Olsson made a documentary about Leila K called Fuck you, fuck you very much. It shows the period surrounding her nomination for the 1996 Swedish Grammis awards, and confrontations with the swedish press due to fabricated stories.
In 2003, the newspaper Expressen reported that Leila K was living as a homeless person on the streets of Stockholm, having to steal in order to get food.
In 2004 she was reported as being in jail.
In 2005, the Swedish cartoonist Martin Kellerman conducted an interview with her for his own Comic book magazine Rocky.
In 2015 Leila K made a return to the stage at the Denniz Pop Awards, named after her former producer.

Mon chat "Splash" gite sur mon lit a bouffe
Sa langue en buvant trop mon whysky
Quand a moi peu dormi
Vide
Brime
J'ai du dormir dans la goutiere
Oil j'ai un flash
En 4 couleurs
Allez op
Un matin
Une louloute est v'nue chez moi
Poupee de cellophane
cheveux chinois
Sparadrap
une gueule de bois
A bu ma biere dans un grand verre en caoutchouc
Ouh ouh ouh
Comme un indien dans son igloo
Ca plane pour moi
Ca plane pour moi
Moi moi moi moi
Ca plane pour moi
Ouh ouh ouh
Ca plane pour moi
Allez hop
La mama
Quel panard
Quelle vibration
De s'envoyer sur le paillasson
Lime
Ruine
Vide
Comble
You are the queen of the divan
Qu'elle me dit en passant
Ouh ouh ouh
I'm the queen of the divan
Ca plane pour moi
Ca plane pour moi
Moi moi moi moi
Ca plane pour moi
Ouh ouh ouh
Ca plane pour moi
Allez hop
T'occupes
T'inquietes
Touches pas ma planete
It's not today que le ciel me tombera sur la tete
Et que la colle me manquera
Ouh ouh ouh
Ca plane pour moi
Ca plane pour moi
Ca plane pour moi
Moi moi moi moi
Ca plane pour moi
Ouh ouh ouh
Ca plane pour moi
Allez hop
Ma nana s'est tiree
S'est barree
Enfin c'est marre
A tout casse
L'evier
Le bar
Me laissant seul comme un grand connard
Ouh ouh ouh
Le pied dans le plat
Ca plane pour moi
Ca plane pour moi
Moi moi moi moi
Ca plane pour moi
Ouh ouh ouh
Ca plane pour moi
The lyrics to "Ca Plane Pour Moi" by Leila K. are in French and contain many slang words, making it difficult for non-French speakers to fully understand. However, the overall theme of the song is one of chaos, with the singer describing various incidents in their life. The first verse talks about the singer's cat, who has consumed too much whiskey and is now lying on the bed. The singer themselves is unable to sleep and ends up sleeping in the gutter, but has a sudden realization ("un flash") before the chorus.
The chorus ("Ca plane pour moi") is repeated several times throughout the song, and is a phrase that roughly translates to "Everything's going well for me" or "I'm in a good place." The second verse introduces a new character, a girl who comes to visit the singer ("une louloute"). She is described as a "poupee de cellophane" with Chinese hair. The singer is hungover and drinks beer out of a rubber glass before having another "flash."
In the third verse, the singer's mother visits and they have a good time together, sitting on the doorstep. The chorus is repeated, followed by the fourth verse where the singer's girlfriend leaves, and the singer is left alone feeling like a "grand connard" (a big jerk). The song ends with one final repetition of the chorus.

This one is truly a timeless piece of a jewelry. The song and the video... holy crap. It could be broadcasted TODAY and nobody of the youngsters saw the difference. One of the best, forever Leila K
