1) Who are they? Polish band. Lemon is a brainchild of Igor Herbut. He founded the band right after he’d gotten to know that he had been accepted as the contestant of Must Be the Music talent show. He partook in the auditions with his cousin Adam after the night they spent at a wedding party as vocal performers. That’s what Igor has to say about this unusual experience: When we got to know we could take part in the main casting we were absolutely surprised and happy but also overwhelmed by what was to come. And that was when we thought about extending the line-up. I called the best violinist I knew, Andrzej Olejnik, and Piotr Budniak, drummer who knows how to play his instrument as if he was singing. And finally Piotr Kołacz whom I knew from a different project. That is how Lemon was born. And you know what? Lemon won the contest! Their debut album was released on November 27, 2012.
What do they say about themselves? Igor on new album: What’s to be found on the album may be considered a diary of our adventure that started during the ‘Must Be the Music’ auditions and is going to end on November 27, 2012. That’s the release date of the CD. Lots of things happened. And everything’s reflected in the songs. Some joy, a bit of doubt, a few stories I heard before, some irritation and persistent fight against the matter… Some songs were written over the course of one night, others had to evolve. But here they are waiting to open your hearts.
What about the new album? Well, yeah, if they partook in a TV talent show, one could easily pass a judgement on them: they have got to be a soulless bastard child of pop-culture. It’s not that simple. Pop (or pop-rock, if you will) bears a stigmata of less valuable music and semi-finished product aimed at the uncultured consumers for no reason. The fact is that good pop is as challenging as any other subgenre. And trashy pop is as useless as trashy hip-hop, grindcore or country. As simple as freakin’ that! But the question we need to answer here is: what’s Lemon closer to – bad or good. The latter, for sure. Having said that, I need to admit though that their debut album is not completely free of defects. The first – and probably last – of my complaints is that the album is somehow one-dimensional. What I mean is that most songs drift towards balladeer / crooner tradition. They are soothing and delicate, which is not a sin, but higher diversity of dynamics would do no harm, in my opinion… This fondness of sentimentalism can be heard even in the first part of All You Need Is Love cover. Fortunately, second part is much more exciting. But now we need to mention the bright sides, too. What’s most interesting on the album is that Lemon’s modern pop is tastefully mixed with the elements of East-European folk. Such amalgam almost compensates the listener for the deficiencies described above by making the music much more colorful. And last but not least, Igor Herbut is band’s treasure. His expressive and charismatic voice at the forefront of songs is Lemon’s most deadly weapon.
What are their lyrics about? Well, no surprises here: if a band chooses All You Need Is Love by The Beatles as a cover, then it’s no wonder they sing about feelings. But Lemon has different surprise: their album consists of fourteen songs sung in Polish, English, Ukrainian and in the language of Lemkos.
2) A Finnish rock band founded in 1969. Most of its members had played in The First before founding Lemon. They released their first album in 1970 and continued until the mid 1970s under the name Lemon. In 1975 they took back their old name The First.
3) Electronic musician in the UK, began making music under the name "lemon" (stylised in all lowercase) in 2022, released via BandCamp. First single, "chair-noises.mp3", was released on February 6th, 2022. First album, "noise", was released April 18th, 2022. First EP, "anomaly", was released on July 17th, 2022.

Gdy płacze z zimna maleńki Bóg
Opatrzy serca załamane
Skruszone poskłada
Co ludzkie staje się boskie
To już
Ktoś rozplątuje nerwowo
Oddech przyśpieszonych ulic
W marszu zatraconych stóp
Co ludzkie staje się boskie
To już
A ja zmrużę oczy a Ty zjawisz się znów
Wszystko się rozmaże
Zamiast podarków poproszę o cud
A ja zmrużę oczy a Ty zjawisz się znów
Wszystko się rozmaże
Zamiast darów proszę o cud
Zapach mandarynek
Błyszczący papier szeleści
Drobne dłonie lukrują piernik
Pokłują się zaraz choinką
Co ludzkie staje się boskie
To już
Migoczą od świateł ulice miasta
Łuną już błyszczą
Dostrzeż w tym wszystkim coś
Co w głowie się nie mieści
Co boskie staje się ludzkie
To już
A ja zmrużę oczy a Ty zjawisz się znów
Wszystko się rozmaże
Zamiast podarków poproszę o cud
The lyrics to Lemon's song "Grudniowy" depict the atmosphere and emotions of the month of December. The opening lines, "Jest noc lecz nie ma ciemności, Gdy płacze z zimna maleńki Bóg" (It's night but there is no darkness, When the tiny God cries from the cold), suggest a sense of paradox, where darkness is absent but still a divine presence is uncomfortable and shedding tears due to the cold. The following lines, "Opatrzy serca załamane, Skruszone poskłada, Co ludzkie staje się boskie, To już" (He tends to broken hearts, Puts the shattered ones back together, What's human becomes divine, That's it), reflect on the power of this divine presence to heal and transform human hearts, making them divine in some way.
The next verse talks about someone nervously untangling a tangled string of lights, symbolizing the chaos and rush of the season. The line "Co ludzkie staje się boskie, To już" (What's human becomes divine, That's it) is repeated, suggesting that this transformation from human to divine is a recurring theme throughout the song. The chorus, "A ja zmrużę oczy a Ty zjawisz się znów, Wszystko się rozmaże, Zamiast podarków poproszę o cud" (And I'll close my eyes and You'll appear again, Everything will blur, Instead of gifts, I'll ask for a miracle), expresses a desire for something more meaningful and miraculous rather than material gifts during the holiday season.
The third verse brings in the scent of tangerines, the sound of shiny wrapping paper, and the sight of children decorating gingerbread. The imagery captures the sensory experience of the holiday season. The lines "Co ludzkie staje się boskie, To już" (What's human becomes divine, That's it) are repeated once again.
The final verse describes the flickering lights of the city streets, shining brightly and urging the listener to find something incomprehensible in all of it. The line "Co boskie staje się ludzkie, To już" (What's divine becomes human, That's it) turns the previous transformation around, suggesting that divinity also finds its way into humanity.
Overall, "Grudniowy" by Lemon explores the duality of the holiday season, where the divine and the human intertwine, where chaos and merriment coexist, and where the desire for something meaningful and miraculous takes precedence over material gifts.

Gdy mój syn walczył o życie w inkubatorze, gdy musiałam zostawić go w klinice samego, gdy czekałam na niego umierając z płaczu i tęsknoty... Usłyszałam tą piękna Grudniową(4lata temu) i wtedy- Zamiast darów prosiłam o cud...
