she ain't be waiting there around no more,
for there's this brand new lover to save her soul,
he said:
pretty soon we'll be flying,
no it ain't no lying,
cause my word's my bond,
for this plan ain't no denying,
Well now her brand new lover brought her in on his plan,
she'll act as taken by surprise when they confront her man.
When they tie him to a chair to shake his rich daddy down,
he says:
pretty soon we'll be flying,
tell his dad we ain't lying,
have him told we'll need a bag of gold,
for this plan ain't no denying,
for this plan ain't no denying.
Meanwhile her man probably things they came collecting his dept,
for he's been gambling out of luck overplaying his hand,
he's thinking this here fix will take them out of this mess
he says:
pretty soon they'll be flying,
no it ain't no lying,
my word's my bond,
for this plan ain't no denying,
for this plan ain't no denying.
Now when his father pays up and he complies to their call,
for now her lover says it's best if he don't see her at all,
he'll take the cash out of town untill the dust settles down,
he says:
pretty soon we'll be flying,
no it ain't no lying,
my word's my bond,
for this plan ain't no denying,
for this plan ain't no denying.
The song "The Plan" by Len Lucieer tells a story about a woman who feels trapped and hopeless in her situation. However, a new lover comes into her life and promises to save her from her troubles with an elaborate plan. The lyrics describe how this new lover convinces the woman to participate in a plan that involves shaking down her own partner's father for money. The woman's partner thinks they are simply there to collect a debt, but soon realizes he has been caught up in their plan.
Throughout the song, the new lover reassures everyone involved that their plan will not fail and they will soon be flying away with their ill-gotten gains. The lyrics give the impression that the new lover is manipulative and dishonest, willing to do whatever it takes to get what they want. Meanwhile, the woman's partner is portrayed as desperate and vulnerable, willing to do anything to escape his situation.
Overall, the song paints a picture of a complex and morally ambiguous situation. The characters are driven by their own desires and motivations, and it is left up to the listener to decide whether their actions are justified or not.
