Hours
Lengsel Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I will never sleep again
I will go to my world
Where I always can change
Everything
How could things end up like this?
All this hatred
All this hatred
I was a part of it
Until this very night
Never again
If man is sane, I am not
In these hours it is a blessing, embracing insanity
-I am not one of them
And I can hear the screaming
They are screaming at me desperately
I did not understand what they were saying
That is why they scream
-No one really listens
I still do not understand
As the weeping continues
This dark feeling of hopelessness grows stronger
I know of their hatred
I will never sleep again
I will crush reality in our world
In my world they will recieve
But their sanity is not mine
The lyrics of Lengsel's "Hours" speak of the singer's inability to sleep and their desire to enter a world where they have control and can change everything. They express confusion and remorse about their participation in the hatred that surrounds them but declare that they will never be a part of it again. The singer acknowledges their own sanity as questionable and finds comfort in embracing insanity, seeing it as a blessing in these hours. They hear the desperate screams of others but do not understand them, realizing that no one really listens. As the weeping continues, the singer experiences a growing feeling of hopelessness, aware of the hatred that exists but determined to create something new in their own world - a world that belongs to them and where they are in control.
Overall, the lyrics of "Hours" are introspective and speak to the human experience of feeling overwhelmed by the world around us. The singer's desire to create a separate reality where they have power and control can be read as a commentary on our human need for agency, especially in times of crisis. The lyrics suggest that in moments of darkness and despair, embracing the unknown and the irrational may provide a sense of comfort and freedom.
