Opaque
Lengsel Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

[Words: John Robert, Music: John Robert and Lengsel]

I know it is dark outside
But I bear not to face it
Alone
I compose a picture within a golden frame
-Black picturesque
My eyes dance in a glassy stare
To the distant sound of musical
Silence
But somehow they lower in a pool
-All wet and obscure

And I see this face
As a vivid picture of my very own self
And the eyes
They are watching me
And so am I

Inside out, whatever
I cannot grasp this
This duplicity

This lack of self-devotion
This classical clichè of a song

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Lengsel's song Opaque explore themes of isolation, self-doubt, and the struggle to find a sense of self amidst confusion and paradox. The singer describes a feeling of reluctance to face the darkness outside, possibly representing the challenges and difficulties of the world around them. Instead, they create a picture in their mind, an escape within a golden frame. However, this picture is not one of beauty but of darkness and obscurity, a contradiction between what the singer desires and what they actually feel inside.

The singer's eyes dance in a glassy stare, as they listen to the distant sound of music in silence. Yet, this music cannot stop the pool of wet and obscure emotions that surround them. They see a face, perhaps their own reflection, that watches them with eyes judging and questioning their every move. In a moment of clarity, the singer realizes their struggle with self-devotion, their inability to fully embrace who they are. This internal conflict is depicted as a classical clichè of a song, emphasizing the common nature of these struggles while also acknowledging their individuality.

Overall, the lyrics of Opaque by Lengsel provide a deep insight into the human psyche, highlighting the complexity and difficulty of personal growth and self-acceptance in a world full of contradictions.

An Inuit hunter asked the local missionary priest: "If I did not know about God and sin, would I go to hell?" "No," said the priest, "not if you did not know." "Then why," asked the Inuit earnestly, "did you tell me?"

The why to be a christian isn't Hell, isn't Heaven: it's Freedom.

@Cupofwrathdotcom I hate to respond a year after you posted this.. But where in the bible does it say Christians go to heaven after dying? Heaven contradicts Revaluations.. John 5:28, 29 "all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God’s Son, 29 and they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life, and those who have continued in evil will rise to experience judgment".. Pretty straight forward...
