Dangerous And Sweet
Lenka Lyrics

But everything goes in and it stings
Like a spider
Hits you deep inside and
I know that you are just like me, oversensitive
Well I ordinarily breathe
Taking everything for much more than it means
Cut us and we bleed
All these words that we speak casually
Well maybe I'm just weak, but it hurts me
Everything you said
Everything you said
Everything you said
Well it cuts, like a knife
It hurts me deep inside and
I know that you are just like me, oversensitive
Well I ordinarily breathe
Taking everything for much more than it means
Well it's dangerous, and it's sweet
Cut us and we bleed
I should put on my armor the next time I see you
So I won't be harmed
I know I can shoot my own arrows
I'm sorry I hurt you
I know that like me you can be oversensitive
I know that you are just like me, oversensitive
Well I ordinarily breathe
Taking everything for much more than it means
Well it's dangerous, and it's sweet
Cut us and we bleed
Yeah it's dangerous and sweet
Don't you know it's dangerous and it's sweet?
Cut us and we bleed
The lyrics to Lenka's song "Dangerous And Sweet" paint a picture of two sensitive individuals in a complicated relationship. The metaphor of a spider's sting is used to represent how little things can cause pain and discomfort. The song explores how people can be so similar, yet still cause hurt to each other unintentionally. The chorus repeats the phrase "it's dangerous, and it's sweet," emphasizing the unpredictable and complex nature of their relationship.
Lenka describes herself and her partner as oversensitive, implying that they both take things to heart more than others would. The verse "All these words that we speak casually, well maybe I'm just weak, but it hurts me" highlights the idea that even small comments can cause harm. Despite this, the two still care for each other deeply, a sentiment reflected in the line "cut us and we bleed."
The final verse shows Lenka taking accountability for her actions and acknowledging that both of them can be oversensitive. She expresses a desire to protect herself in the future, but also recognizes that she has the ability to hurt her partner as well.
Overall, "Dangerous And Sweet" is a nuanced exploration of a complex relationship and the contradictions and complications that come with being oversensitive.
