God Is Love
Lenny Kravitz Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Through all your trials and tribulations
God is love
He'll get you through all situations
God is love
And if you are ready He always is ready for you
That's why He gave His son oh yeah
And you should feel His pain
Yet He gave us everything
God is love
He'll get you through your pain and sorrow
God is love
He's coming back maybe tomorrow
God is love
And if you are ready He's gonna be ready for you
God loves everyone
That's why He gave His Son, oh yeah
And you should feel His pain
Yet He gave us everything
And though much time has passed
His words and promises always last
And I am here to say
That He loves each one of us in every way
God is love
He makes the rain that makes the flowers
God is love
And so amazing are His powers
God is love
And if you are ready He's gonna be ready for you
God loves everyone
That's why He gave His son, oh yeah
And you should feel His pain
Yet He gave us everything [Repeat: x 3]
In this song, Lenny Kravitz is advocating that God's love is the answer to all of life's difficulties. The chorus is repeated frequently throughout the song, almost like a mantra, emphasizing that God's love is the constant force that will be there to help you through your struggles. The song conveys the message that no matter what the problem is, no matter how insurmountable it may seem, God's love will help you overcome it. It's about having faith and trust in God, and believing that He will guide you to a better place.
The verses talk about the sacrifices that God has made for humanity, giving his only Son as a sacrifice to save mankind. This is a reference to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Kravitz wants the listener to recognize and feel the magnitude of God's sacrifice and pain. He believes that if we can understand this and embrace God's love, then we too can overcome any obstacle.
Overall, the song is an uplifting reminder that we are not alone in our struggles and that God's love is always around us to guide us through life's challenges.
