Fever
Leon Russell Lyrics

Never know how much I love you
Never know how much I care
When you put your arms around me
I get a fever that's so hard to bear

You give me fever, when you kiss me
Fever when you hold me tight
Fever in the morning
Fever all through the night

Sun lights up the daytime
Moon lights up the night
My eyes light up when you call my name
'Cause I know you're gonna
know you're gonna, know you're gonna give it to me right

Fever all through the night
Fever in the morning
know you're gonna treat me right

Listen to me baby, hear every word I say
No one can love you the way I do
'Cause they don't know how to love you my way

You give me fever, when you kiss me
Fever when you hold me tight
Fever in the morning
Fever all through the night

Bless my soul I love you, take this heart away
Take these arms I'll never use
And believe in what my lips have to say

You give me fever, when you kiss me
Fever when you hold me tight
Fever in the morning
Fever all through the night

Sun lights up the daytime
Moon lights up the night
My eyes light up when you call my name
'Cause I know you're gonna
know you're gonna, know you're gonna give it to me right

Fever all through the night
Fever in the morning
Fever all through the night

Bless my soul I love you, take this heart away
Take these arms I'll never use
'Cause I know you're gonna
know you're gonna, know you're gonna give it to me right

Fever all through the night

Fever in the morning
know you're gonna treat me right

Overall Meaning

Leon Russell's song "Fever" is a bluesy, seductive tune about the intense feelings of love and desire. The lyrics express the singer's intense love for their lover, describing the feverish feeling that takes over their body whenever they are around them. The singer never knew how much they loved or cared for their lover until they held them in their arms, which generates a feverish passion within them.

The lyrics describe the various times when this fever takes over - in the morning, throughout the night, and when their lover calls out their name. The singer expresses their confidence in the intensity of their love, claiming that no one can love their lover the way they do, as they don't know how to love them the way they do. The song is filled with imagery of light and dark, with the sun and moon lighting up the day and night, and the singer's eyes lighting up when their lover calls out their name.

Overall, "Fever" is a celebration of the raw, intense passion that comes with true love. The feverish feeling that the singer experiences is a physical manifestation of the depth of their emotions, conveying the power of love to completely overwhelm and consume the senses.

I think the meaning is very different to that posted above.
The author is Jesus.
The strange time is the period of his crucifixion and death.
She was my women (Mary Magdalene) and he was my friend (his erstwhile friend Judas).
But he was wrong about both.
He's talking to God who is putting him through this strange time and despite that he still loves God.
"Roll away the stone". He's in the cave. He's begging God to open the cave, protecting him and resurrect him for the good of those who'll be around in 2000 years ie us.
He thought God would have filled him in as to when the end of times would occur but he hasn't ("I guess you thought I knew")
He then accuses God of just trying to avoid him (Jesus) but still asks for protect and resurrection.

she

The lyric is "She was my woman and HE was my friend". That is, he's talking about two different people.
