Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Leon Russell's "I Put A Spell On You" are seemingly simple, but they convey a intense and powerful message. The repetition of the title line, "I put a spell on you," creates a hypnotic rhythm that emphasizes the idea of being enchanted or bewitched. The singer is addressing someone, most likely a lover, and telling them that they have cast a spell on them. The repetition reinforces the idea that the singer is completely under the spellbinding power of their love interest.

The following lines emphasize this power dynamic. The singer tells the addressee that they need to "get yourself together" and "find out what you're gonna do." This suggests that the singer has control over the addressee and that they need to take some form of action to appease the singer or escape their grip. The "ooh" at the end is a vocalization of the emotions that are swirling around in the singer's mind, reinforcing the idea of being under a spell.

Overall, "I Put A Spell On You" is an intense declaration of love and possession. The repetition of the title line and the insistent rhythm create a sense of being caught up in something powerful and beyond the singer's control. The lyrics communicate a sense of passion and danger, making for a compelling and memorable song.

I think the meaning is very different to that posted above.
The author is Jesus.
The strange time is the period of his crucifixion and death.
She was my women (Mary Magdalene) and he was my friend (his erstwhile friend Judas).
But he was wrong about both.
He's talking to God who is putting him through this strange time and despite that he still loves God.
"Roll away the stone". He's in the cave. He's begging God to open the cave, protecting him and resurrect him for the good of those who'll be around in 2000 years ie us.
He thought God would have filled him in as to when the end of times would occur but he hasn't ("I guess you thought I knew")
He then accuses God of just trying to avoid him (Jesus) but still asks for protect and resurrection.

she

The lyric is "She was my woman and HE was my friend". That is, he's talking about two different people.
