@Weromano English translations
Bountiful evening, bountiful evening, a New Year's carol;
A little swallow flew into the household
and started to twitter,
to summon the master:
"Come out, come out, O master,
look at the sheep pen,
there the ewes have given birth
and the lambkins have been born
Your goods [livestock] are great,
you will have a lot of money, by selling them.
You have a dark-eyebrowed beautiful wife
If not money, then chaff from all the grain you will harvest
you have a dark-eyebrowed beautiful wife."
Edelle
Okay, I tried but it was not easy...
Shchedryk, shchedryk, shchedryk,
A swallow arrived,
It started twitter,
To call the owner:
"Come out, come out, master,
Look at the fold -
There the lambs rolled,
And the lambs were born.
You have all the good stuff,
You will have a measure of money,
Although not money, then half (of them),
You have a black-eyed wife." (But there's singing about the wife with black eyebrows(!))
Shchedryk, shchedryk, shchedryk,
The swallow arrived...

Original version. Beautiful, I love both but this seems even more mystical to me as I don't understand Ukranian.

Constantine
Wow, such a beautiful song. Thanks Ukraine.
Corkey Diesel
Ahh yes this beautifully haunting melody that has nothing to do with Christmas, but got changed into a Christmas song.
elektra121
That's actually not rare to "recycle" songs for various purposes. A lot of christmas songs were children's or love songs or spring songs before.

Weromano
May I ask, what it is about exactly?
Genshin Child
@Weromano I know this is really late but it's about a bountiful Christmas, (as the title translates to) specifically talking about many animals on a farm being born
Weromano
@Genshin Child thank you so much my friend!
