Dwight Yoakam
Come On Christmas
Silver Bells (featuring Beth Anderson)
(raymond b. evans, jay livingston)

City sidewalks
Busy sidewalks
Dressed in holiday style
In the air there's a feeling of christmas

Children laughing
People passing
Meeting smile after smile
And on every street corner you'll hear

Chorus:
Silver bells, silver bells
Silver bells, silver bells
It's christmas time in the city
Hear them ring, hear them ring
Ring a ling, ring a ling
Soon it will be christmas day

Chorus:
Silver bells, silver bells
Silver bells, silver bells
It's christmas time in the city
Hear them ring, hear them ring
Ring a ling, ring a ling

Soon it will be christmas day
Soon it will be christmas day

Ah yes. Arietta is one of my favorites, too. Matter of factly, I get goosebumps EVERY time I hear the first two bars. I used this lilting, dreamily, wafting tune as the background music for a slide show I made, showcasing my daughter-in-laws cosmetic displays that she created through the years to vie for a managerial position. The presentation received kudos and she got the job. Thank you Nigel.... thank you and god bless Mr. Leroy Anderson and marvelous his gifts of music.

Yes,  indeed , I am surprised this haunting melody is not as popular as some other works by Leroy Anderson. For a  short musical composition this has  as much weight  as full blown orchestral pieces. Nigel

Such a beautiful piece of music. I had never heard this hauntingly beautiful piece until just now in 2021, and I'm just 76. I love all of Leroy Anderson's music. Many thanks for posting.

Beautiful. It seems Leroy Anderson isn't recognized nearly enough for his beautiful music.
