I did it senior year as 1st chair with my 2nd and 3rd chair. But we did the "trick" where we crossed over eachother to do fingers on another horn.. our director said it's a thing that gets done but I've never found a video of anyone doing it

@Finn there's no good way to describe it except at one point 3 of us were standing next to eachother reaching around and under eachother so we were each controlling half of one trumpet ( valves or mouthpiece) and since I can't find a video of it that's all I can say

Spectacular! I once heard a version whereby two of the three played the orchestral part at 2:24 (where the baritones run up the scale immediately prior to the end), an incredible variation/take on the classic.

+Lani Bohmont, it shouldn't. The two instruments are made for different sounds and different purposes. I still am amazed at the abilities of two of our clarinetists when I was in high school. They were wondrous. Both went on to professional, classical careers.

when I was a student at CIM Michael Sachs knocked me on my ass in a pick-up football game next to the student dormitory! Anyway, it was cool that he wanted to play football with us low-life music undergrads. Bravo to all three soloists and the band. SOUNDS GREAT!

I just talked to two musicians who put together a tribute concert in 2010 for their old band teacher. The teacher had always wanted to play "Bugler's Holiday" in a concert but had never had the opportunity, in all his 45 years teaching middle-school band. The two musicians solicited alumni of his band classes, asking them to volunteer to play the three-trumpet piece, and dozens of the trumpet players clamored to be allowed to play with the teacher. In the end they allowed only eight other trumpeters to share the stage with him for "Bugler's Holiday." At the end of the piece the teacher shook the hand of one of the organizers, and he had tears in his eyes.

Takes me back to my childhood, wonderful music Dad played on his quite powerful grama phone, no TV in those days, Leroy Anderson was the music of the time, so many memorable numbers he wrote

Sadly, there were multiple trumpet flubs, and not just at the end. Couldn't believe it when the trumpeter on the left missed some notes because he was turning a page! However, good tempo, and a noble & serviceable attempt at Leroy Anderson's brilliant composition. The best I've heard so far is Leroy Anderson's original recording of the song. Al Hirt & company also do an admirable job. Remember, this is infinitely difficult to play, for both trumpet soloists AND the orchestra! Want to be really impressed? Quite true. Memorizing the music would give the trumpeters the option to concentrate more on their musicianship, blend and technique. One should always memorize important music for important performances.
