thing is, these well scripted answers, saying everything the interviewer wants to hear is spotted instantly by the employer and it doesnt pass you off as genuine at all.

Youre supposed to take his answers, make notes, and find ways to turn it into your own words that fit you as an individual. This helps you prepare for difficult questions you might not otherwise be thinking about, and sounding more confident in your answers.
