No Moon At All
Les Brown and His Band Of Renown Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

No moon at all, what a night
Even lightnin' bugs have dimmed their lights
Stars have disappeared from sight
And there's no moon at all

Don't make a sound, it's so dark
Even Fido is afraid to bark
What a perfect chance to park
And there's no moon at all

Should we want atmosphere for inspiration, dear
One kiss will make it clear
That tonight is right and bright moonlight might interfere

No moon at all way up above
This is nothin' like they told us of
Just to think we fell in love
And there's no moon at all

Should we want atmosphere for inspiration, dear
One kiss will make it clear
That tonight is right and bright moonlight might interfere

No moon at all up above
Aww, this is nothin' like they told us of
Just to think we fell in love
And there's no moon at all

Aww, there's no moon at all

There is no moon at all
No moon at all

Overall Meaning

In Les Brown & His Band Of Renown's song Blue Skies, the lyrics describe a moonless night where even the lightning bugs have lost their glow and the stars have vanished from sight. It's so dark that even Fido, a common name for a dog, is afraid to bark. The absence of the moon presents a perfect opportunity for two lovers to park and find inspiration for their love. However, the lack of moonlight also poses a threat to the atmosphere as the night might not be right and bright. Nevertheless, the two are already in love and nothing else seems to matter.

The song suggests that the absence of the moon might not always be a bad thing as it creates the perfect ambiance for love to blossom. The lyrics also hint at the fact that sometimes too much light can overshadow the emotions that one feels, and one might need to detach themselves from the light to experience and understand the depth of their love. The song ends with a repetition of 'No moon at all' as a reminder that sometimes, even with the absence of light, love still exists.
