Cooper sang in several New York doo wop groups, including The Empires and The Whirlers, and was the manager of the group The Charts. In 1962, he signed to Everlast Records and released the single "Dig Yourself" b/w "Wiggle Wobble", billed with his band as Les Cooper & the Soul Rockers. Both sides were produced by Bobby Robinson. The B-side was an instrumental featuring the saxophone playing of Joe Grier (formerly of The Charts himself); it caught on at radio and became a nationwide hit, peaking at #12 R&B in 1962 and #22 on the Billboard Hot 100 early in 1963. It was his only hit; one of the follow-up singles was the sonically similar "Let's Do the Boston Monkey", recorded for Enjoy Records.

I worked for two different companies doing exactly that especially those who were in litigation, so I would negotiate on behalf of our clients to settle their debts, whether lump sum at 20% of the balance, or payment arrangements at 35-40%. I built rapports with 3rd party debt collectors, and law firms to establish a base line for settlements across the board. Most of them handle a ton of accounts, so volume was a big factor. I would have them pre-fax me settlement agreements with the terms to be more efficient. It would get to the point where we only spoke to each other if there was a problem on the contract, or make an adjustment to the settlement.
The problem with these companies was they got into trouble making false claims, and pledges. For example, these client's had to pay a fee to be in the 'program', and recurring monthly fees for working their account on top of putting money aside for settling accounts. These companies told them it won't hurt your credit, people who were barely making their monthly payments, but not delinquent were told to stop making payments, and once it's "aged" delinquent for 90 days or longer we attempt to get it settled for less than what they owe, etc.
I was very good at it, but ethically I couldn't do it anymore knowing what I knew, and they were enrolling people that was put in a tougher spot. They got into trouble with BBB, and state AG's filed lawsuits that eventually buried them. So, I got out before the second one went under.
Credit Solutions was the first one.
I made a lot of money in commissions, and bonuses. But, again, it was one of those things how the company operated that I wasn't okay with is ultimately the reason why I got out of the industry.

Enough about women, let's talk big.

@Tai Pinhas That's like "working on yourself to get women or with the hope of getting women". This attitude is never going to help. That attitude should be "Work on yourself. You don't need women."

@Taylor C right, I'd rather make the 70/80k a year doing the job I enjoy, than making 6 figures doing something as boring as debt management
