Les Paul Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Oh, there's a lull in my life
It's just a void and empty space
When you are not in my embrace
Oh, there's a lull In my life
The moment that you go away
There is no night, there is no day
The clock stops ticking
The world stops turning
Everything stops but the flame in my heart
That keeps burning, burning
Oh, oh, oh
There's a lull In my life

No matter how I may pretend
I know that you alone can end

Overall Meaning

the ache in my heart, the call of my arms, the lull in my life.

In "There's a Lull in My Life", the singer describes an overwhelming sense of emptiness and longing when their romantic partner is not present. The lyricist uses strong imagery to convey the depth of their feelings, highlighting the all-consuming nature of their love as they describe how the world seems to come to a halt when their partner is away. For the singer, nothing feels quite right without their partner by their side, and they acknowledge that despite any efforts to pretend otherwise, they cannot escape the lull in their life until they are reunited with their loved one.

The melancholic tone of the song is emphasized by the sparse, intimate arrangement of Les Paul and His Trio's recording. The group's minimalistic approach allows the singer's vulnerable lyrics to resonate fully with the listener, making "There's a Lull in My Life" a classic torch song of longing and heartbreak.

Fantastic demonstration.

About a year-and-a-half ago I bought a 59 Les Paul reissue Heavy Aged Murphy lemon green fade.

Those guitars are made to feel, look and sound exactly like the original.

Hats off to the staff at Norm's and all the wonderful work they do for homeless people.

God love and God bless you. 🙏🕊️❤️

What's so cool about this one is it's a sunburst

I don't want to make excuses for myself but I am envious of players who are big, tall and have big strong fingers.

I'm 65 and I only started playing two and a half years ago.

It's impossible to compete with people who started at 10 or 15 years old.

Some guys are so big and strong they make the guitar look like a toy.

My hands are not that big and strong but then again, I think of Prince. He was excellent and was not large in stature.

No whining. I'm grateful to be playing.
