Blue Skies
Les Paul And His Trio Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Blue skies smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies do I see
Bluebirds singing a song
Nothing but bluebirds all day long

Never saw the sun shining so bright
Never saw things going so right
Noticing the days hurrying by
When you're in love, my, how they fly

Blue days, all of them gone
Nothing but blue skies from now on
(Blue skies smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies do I see)

Never saw the sun shining so bright
Never saw things going so right
Noticing the days hurrying by
When you're in love, my, how they fly

Blue days, all of them gone

Nothing but blue skies from now on
Nothing but blue skies from now on

Hi, thanks for sharing this recording! My grandfather is Clint Nordquist and he played standup bass with Les, not banjo. :) I'll be sure to let him listen to this. He'll love it.

Great 78 to have Al. Not seen anything this early from Les Paul before.
Fascinating info about Bing Crosby.

In the doubling of the piano lines, one can hear what was to come later on in his work with the "Missus".
All the speed is here, all his little tricks as well. And not in the least, extremely well recorded at a time when the electric guitar was barely understood by both the studios and listeners.

The humbucking pickup set back the cause of jazz guitar 50 years!
