The first members of the band were: Admir Ahmetović (drums), Damir Terzić (guitars), Nedim Sinanović (bass) and Dino Šaran (vocals), both of the latter songwriters. Letu Štuke intrigued music critics back then with their vigouros work and numerous concerts on (what was then known as) Sarajevo demo scene. Sadly though, because of the various changes and because the members had to serve in the army, and after that the war in Bosnia during the 1990's - the group falls apart and everything stays still just on their demo recordings.
Members of the band move to various corners of the world, while Dino Šaran after a short stay in Zagreb goes back to Sarajevo. While writing songs for various Croatian musicians (such as Severina and many others) he starts thinking about starting the band again. With his strong will and with big help from the arranger-producer-precusionist Đani Pervan (who in the meantime moved to Paris, and became one of the Darko Rundek & Cargo Orkestar members) in February of 2005. Letu Štuke goes into studio and finally, after 17 years of waiting, their first album is being recorded.
Now famous Croatian label Menart recognizes great potential in Letu Štuke and presses the realese of the album annoucing it as "one of the most interesting rock albums to come out this year".
In early 2008. they release their second album Proteini i ugljikohidrati.
The band members now are: Dino Šaran (vocals) and Đani Pervan (drums and precusions) as the main duo, Dejan Ostojić (bass), Dino Vatrenjak (guitars) and Slobodan Ćosić (keyboards).
Kao na zapad

sve su duše još uvijek tu.
Sve se djevojke spremaju da čekaju
još jedan poziv u rat.
Kao na zapad,
kao da idemo na zapad.
govore samo o kolonama.
Sve se djevojke spremaju i čekaju
i podvezicama mašu.
Kao na zapad,
kao da idemo na zapad.
The lyrics to Letu Stuke's song "Kao na zapad" paint a picture of a society that is preparing for war. At the beginning of the song, the singer describes passing by a mirror and seeing that everyone's souls are still intact, suggesting that despite the impending violence, humanity is still alive and present. However, he then goes on to talk about how all the girls are getting ready to wait for yet another call to war, with the reference to "podvezicama mašu" implying that they are dressing up and trying to look their best to impress those who may soon be fighting.
The repeated phrase "kao na zapad" emphasizes the sense of going west, which could be interpreted several ways. One possibility is that it refers to Western Europe, where many of the conflicts in the Balkans have had ripple effects. Another possibility is that it is a metaphor for death, since the sun sets in the west and it is associated with the afterlife in many cultures. Regardless of the interpretation, the sense of dread and anticipation is palpable in the song, as the singer describes watching columns of soldiers and feeling like he is caught up in something much bigger than himself.
Overall, "Kao na zapad" is a haunting reminder of the toll that war takes on a society, and the emotional scars that it can leave behind long after the fighting has ended.

Bolja mi je demo snimka. Nekako mi ova stvar više paše u new - wave aranžmanu. Demo zvuči žešće i nabrijanije. Baš me zanima kako bi album zvučao da ga je bend snimio 80-ih.
U svakom slučaju je dobar tekst :)
