Easy Come Easy Go
Lew Stone & His Orchestra Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Easy come, easy go, that's the way
If love must have it's day, then
As it came, let it go

No, no remorse, no regrets
We should part exactly as we met
Just easy come, easy go
We never dreamt of romantic dangers
But now that it ends, let's be friends
And not two strangers

Easy come, easy go, here we are

So darling au revoir
It's easy come, easy go

Overall Meaning

The song "Easy Come Easy Go" by Lew Stone & His Orchestra describes the bittersweet experience of falling in and out of love. The lyrics of the song convey a notion that love is ephemeral and fleeting, and it comes and goes with ease. The opening line of the song, "easy come, easy go, that's the way," suggests that love doesn't last forever and that it's transitory by nature.

The singer advises his lover that there should be no regrets and no remorse as they part ways. The phrase "we should part exactly as we met" proposes that the end of the relationship should be as nonchalant and effortless as the start of the relationship. The song implies that recalling the memories of love and cherishing the good times is better than clinging to something that has reached its expiration date.

Lastly, the song concludes with the phrase "Easy come, easy go, here we are, so darling au revoir, It's easy come, easy go," suggesting that the singer has come to terms with the end of the relationship and is ready to move on. The singer and his lover wish each other farewell and accept that the relationship has run its course.

He’s become one of my favorite early artists, I love his voice and music style.
Thanks for putting some info in the description about him, it’s sad to hear we lost someone like him when he was so young. And he was really just a bystander :(

@lincolncity9

@colinrogers6193

I agree with you, lincolncity9, this song is now 87 years old, but could have been recorded last week.

@Mr.SLovesTheSacredHeartofJesus

A beautiful and meaningful song. And as only Al could sing it. 👍

@duncanfinney9833

I first heard this on an L.P of British Dance Band music I got in the late 70's, to me it just typifies the music of the 1930's, Al Bowlly as ever sings it superbly.

I watched 'Pennies from Heaven' a couple of weeks ago (the original version, with Bob Hoskins), and parts of the soundtrack have been bouncing around in my head ever since. An hour ago 'Easy Come, Easy Go' - this version, I'm pretty sure - invaded my mind and I couldn't rest till I found it to listen to. Thank you very much, ws, it's a haunting tune, and a keeper.

@essexpeter6116

It was Pennies from Heaven and Dennis Potter's unusual writing that put me on to this music as well.
