You left me in a hurry
Our love was built on hidden lies
Betrayal, understanding
You said she's just like family
But now she's in our bed at night
And I was alone and you were kissing her
And it could have been bad, but you made it worse
When you set the fire
You burned our house down
In the middle of the night
Everyone was sleeping
No, you didn't even fight for us at all
You knew what you did
That's why you did it in the dark
And I know you don't exist
But I'm a little homesick, homesick
I'm a little homesick, homesick
I knew you were guilty when you couldn't even kiss me
You swore you didn't cheat that night
But you did, you're a terrible person
And I'm stuck here in love with the version of you
But that someone died
And I was alone and you were kissing her
You promised me that I wouldn't get hurt
And it could have been bad, but you made it worse
When you set the fire
You burned our house down
In the middle of the night
Everyone was sleeping
No, you didn't even fight for us at all
You knew what you did
That's why you did it in the dark
And I know you don't exist
But I'm a little homesick, homesick
I'm a little homesick, homesick
I'm a little homesick, homesick
I'm a little homesick, homesick
In Lexi Jayde's song "Homesick," the lyrics tell the story of betrayal and heartbreak in a relationship. The song explores the emotions of feeling alone, hurt, and longing for what once was. The opening lines express the shock and disappointment of being left suddenly and discovering that the foundation of their love was built on lies. The mention of "she's just like family" implies that the betrayal came from someone close, adding an extra layer of pain and betrayal.
The chorus reveals the extent of the damage caused by the betrayal. The metaphor of burning down the house symbolizes the destruction of their relationship. The songwriter's pain is intensified by the fact that the betrayal happened while everyone else was asleep, suggesting that the partner didn't even put up a fight or try to salvage the relationship. The line "you knew what you did, that's why you did it in the dark" implies a deliberate act of deceit and a lack of remorse on the part of the partner.
The second verse further highlights the songwriter's realization of the partner's guilt. Despite the partner's denials, the songwriter can feel the truth, leading to a feeling of being stuck in love with a false version of the person they once knew. The line "that someone died" signifies the loss of trust and the end of the innocence in the relationship.
Overall, "Homesick" delves into the raw emotions of betrayal, heartbreak, and the longing for the past. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of a relationship that has been torn apart by deception, leaving the songwriter feeling alone and homesick for the love they once had.

this song really hits differently. Home representing the relationship, or the person you love itself. and when one cheats, you burn everything down. You loved that person, your home, but that someone died. They don't exist. but sometimes you still can't help but feel homesick.
