Miss Me
Lexi Strate Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Some things are better unsaid,
for now.
I knew we were somewhere near the edge,
somehow.
I wish I hadn't built it up,
in my head.
You let me thinking over things you should've said.
Some things you can't take back.
And now nothing can change the fact,
that you burn them bridges and I'm not looking back.

Miss me, miss me.
Now you want to kiss me
Let me go and now you want to take me
hooooome x2
Miss me, miss me.
Now you want to kiss me
Let me go and now you want to take me
hooooome x2

I can't believe you had the nerve,
to try,
knowing that a time can heal the skies you left on me,
when you say goodbye.
You can beg all you want and say you'll do anything,
but ever since you left you've been invisible to me.

Some things you can't take back.
And now nothing can change the fact,
that you burn them bridges and I'm not looking back.

Miss me, miss me.
Now you want to kiss me
Let me go and now you want to take me
hooooome x2
Miss me, miss me.
Now you want to kiss me
Let me go and now you want to take me
hooooome x2

Miss me, miss me.
Now you want to kiss me
Let me go and now you want to take me
hooooome x2

(Electronic music)

Miss me, miss me.
Now you want to kiss me

Overall Meaning

In Lexi Strate's song Miss Me, she sings about a past relationship that has ended but the other person is trying to come back. The first verse suggests that there were things that should have been said, but now it is too late to say them. The singer also thinks back to when they were near the end and regret building up false hopes of reconciliation. The second verse highlights the pain caused by the other person leaving and how time doesn't erase the hurt. The other person tries to come back by asking for forgiveness, but the singer is not willing to look back and instead chooses to move forward. The chorus repeats "Miss me, miss me. Now you want to kiss me. Let me go and now you want to take me hooooome" repeatedly, conveying the message that the other person had their chance, but it is too late now.

The theme of the song is the singer’s feelings towards an ex-lover who realizes how much they miss her after they have let her go. The song’s lyrics show the singer is confident in her decision to stay away from this person who caused her so much pain in the past. The song represents the empowering feeling of being in a position of strength and not allowing yourself to be taken advantage of. Lexi Strate uses electronic music at the end of the song to show that she is in control and has moved on from the relationship.
