De cara a la pared
Se apaga la ciudad
Llorando
Y no hay más
Muero quizás
¿Adónde estás?
Soñando
De cara a la pared
Se quema la ciudad
Soñando
Sin respirar
Te quiero amar
Te quiero amar
Rezando
De cara a la pared
Se hunde la ciudad
Rezando
Santa María

The lyrics to Lhasa's song De Cara a la Pared are deeply emotional and convey feelings of sadness, longing, and despair. The repeated phrase "de cara a la pared" (face to the wall) suggests a sense of isolation or being trapped, and the imagery of the city fading, burning, and sinking only adds to the feeling of hopelessness. The singer is crying, dreaming, and praying as they search for their loved one, who seems to be absent or unattainable. The final lines "Santa Maria" suggest a plea for divine intervention or guidance in this desperate situation.
One interpretation of the song's meaning could be the struggle to find connection and meaning in a world that feels disconnected and chaotic. The walls that the singer faces could represent not only physical barriers but also psychological and emotional ones, such as depression or trauma. The repeated use of verbs such as crying, dreaming, and praying could also suggest a search for some kind of emotional release or spiritual fulfillment.

I have been singing this song since I heard it in 1999. I just found it after all this time because I hummed the tune into Google and I'm so excited. I love it so much.
