Starting out in October 2009, Life As A Ghost was created by former Bela Kiss vocalist Nick Prainito. Nick enlisted members Greg DelGenio (drums) and Nick Viscovich (guitar) to establish the band's foundation, shortly after adding Mike Compitello (guitar) and Dean Chutis (bass). Gears were set in motion. Life As A Ghost made a name for themselves for being a hard-working, pull-no-punches band, built on beautifully chaotic melody, relentless rhythm, and a punishing live show.
Anticipation has been building for their self-produced debut-album, Drifter (Eulogy Recordings). Recorded with renowned engineer, Eliot Geller (Through The Eyes of The Dead, Moving Mountains) and mastered by Mike Kalaijian (Moving Mountains, Bedlight For Blue Eyes), Drifter features the heaviness and melody that Life As A Ghost has become well known for. Upon adding members Evan Cohen (bass), Jerry DeLorenzo (guitar), and Ray Altamura (drums) the band has increased their forward momentum, shooting a self-produced music video for the album's title track. With plans to extensively tour in support for the release of Drifter, Life As A Ghost prepares to bring their frenetic live act across the country. They later released an EP called Perception in 2013. The guys played their farewell show in early 2014, but are still (as of 2022) posting stuff on their Facebook page.

Life As A Ghost Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The light is drifting and slowly escaping
My hands are shaking and my mind is racing
It's a tale tale sign of a better day
So let this rest in peace
Oh god the walls are closing in
Oh god my chest is losing wind
Teach me how to feel alive. again
Take me back home
Where I belong
And maybe if we close our eyes
We'll come to terms and sleep just fine
And maybe if we close our eyes
Our soul will drift away
May god have mercy
But if we hesitate we wont be breathing anymore
Don't let your demons send you to your grave
Don't let them pull you in
Don't let demons swallow you whole
Doing let your demons divide your soul
The walls are closing in, no one will save you
Maybe somewhere along the way
You'll pick up the pieces and find yourself lost in your dreams
And maybe if we close our eyes
We'll come to terms and sleep just fine
And maybe if we close our eyes
Our soul will drift away
May god have mercy
The walls are closing in
And no one will save you
The walls are closing in
No one will save you
The meaning behind Life As A Ghost's "Evolution" is one of overcoming obstacles and struggles. The song opens with the lyrics "Now comes a time where it fades to grey, the light is drifting and slowly escaping." This could be interpreted as a reference to a dark period in the vocalist's life where they feel as though they are losing their grip on their own reality. The following lines, "My hands are shaking and my mind is racing, it's a tale tale sign of a better day," suggest that despite the difficulty of the current moment, there is hope for improvement in the future.
The chorus of the song, "Take me back home, where I belong," emphasizes the desire to return to a place of comfort and familiarity. The lyrics "Maybe somewhere along the way, you'll pick up the pieces and find yourself, lost in your dreams," offer hope that through perseverance, one can find their way back to a happier place. The repeated line "And maybe if we close our eyes, our soul will drift away, may god have mercy," speaks to the idea of finding peace and release from pain through an out-of-body experience or death.
Despite the darker themes present in the song, Life As A Ghost holds onto the hope of a better future and the idea that through making peace with oneself and past demons, it is possible to move forward.
