Through and Through
Life of Agony Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You've got that look in your eye again
It's working overtime
Worried about where I'm gonna spend my life
But it's much too late, it's much too late
Oh it's much too late to start picking fights

You said: where ya been, where ya been
Where ya going to, where ya going to, where ya going to?
'Cause I'm right here, yeah

Can't it wait, can't it wait, can't it wait
Just a minute now, just a minute now, come on

I need some air to breathe
I need some space, just leave
'Cause I'm colder than ever (colder than ever)
I said I'm colder than ever
I'm empty, empty through and through

Someday they'll see, someday I'll be
Unwanting of somewhere to hide
But for now I'll take shelter
Deep in the back of my mind
Can it wait? can't you wait?
'Cause I ain't ready to lay it on the line
I still shake, I still shake
From this chill in my spine

I've got this chill yeah
In the back of my spine
Baby all the time now
Chilling my bones, chilling all alone now

Find a way, find a way, I've found a way
To cope with the everyday now
Raise your hands if you understand

I need some air to breathe
I need some space, just leave
'cause I'm colder than ever (colder than ever)
I said I'm colder than ever
I'm empty, empty through and through

Smiling's just a phase yeah
And nothing can phase me

Overall Meaning

The song ‘Through And Through’ by Life of Agony explores the turmoil and anxiety of the singer as they receive constant questioning and criticism from those around them. The lyrics begin with the singer being confronted about their life choices and concerns about their future. However, they feel it’s too late for anyone to tell them what to do or to pick fights with them. The lyrics highlight their frustration with the constant questioning, urging the person to wait for a moment before pressing further. The singer feels like they need space to breathe and to escape the overwhelming emotions they are experiencing. They describe feeling empty and colder than ever before, which suggests that they may be dealing with depression.

The song continues with the singer acknowledging that someday they will be ready to face the world and find their place in it. However, for now, they just need to take shelter and find a way to cope with the everyday. The song ends with the singer stating that smiling is just a phase, and nothing can phase them. This suggests that they have found a way to cope with their anxiety and to continue living their lives, in spite of the judgments and pressures they face.

River Runs Red is probably one of the most overlooked concept albums ever.

What's the concept

@roguelead72

@@briancannon3987 Teenage kid who's life is falling to shit, bitchy stepmom, gets fired, gf breaks it off and he's failing school(all connected with messages on the answering machine), end of the album he locks himself in the bathroom a slits his wrists, and ends with the stepmom screaming after she busts in and finds him.

River Runs Red, without question, is one of the best albums from beginning to end. It has been 23 years since it was released, and it never gets old to me.

@thorthunderlungs5171

1993 for me was 4 CDs... River Runs Red, Bloody Kisses- Type O Negative, Blind- COC, and Vulgar Display of Power- Pantera. There were some others too but those four were in full rotation for a couple of years straight. Good damn stuff.

@dennisfinan7977

Thor Thunderlungs blind sure was good man.
