Drive My Soul

Now the road is a minefield
I can't follow the way she moves
I can't see past the shadows
You make the darkness disappear
I feel found when you stay near
I know where I am when you are here
When you're gone
Will I lose control?
You're the only road I know
You show me where to go
Who will drive my soul?
Seems somebody burned out the signs
I can't expect the hard curves
There's no borders, there are no lines
How can I know where to turn?
You make the streetlights reappear
I feel bright when you stand near
I know what I am when you are here
My place becomes so clear
When you're gone
Will I lose control?
You're the only road I know
You show me where to go
Who will drive my soul?
Will I lose control?
You're the only road that I know
You show me where to go
Who will drive my soul?
Drive my soul
When you're gone
Will I lose control?
You're the only road I know
You show me where to go
When you're gone
Will I lose control?
You're the only road I know
You show me where to go
Who will drive my soul?
The song Drive My Soul by Lights speaks about feeling lost and helpless without the presence of a loved one. The singer of the song is navigating an unfamiliar and treacherous territory where even the moon has been put out and the signs have been burned out. The road feels like a minefield where shadows loom and hard curves are not expected. The singer acknowledges that they can't see past these shadows and feels helpless without their significant other.
However, the song also highlights the healing power of love. The presence of the loved one makes the darkness disappear, and the streetlights reappear, making everything bright and clear. The loved one becomes the only road the singer knows, the only one who can show them where to go. Without them, the singer fears that they might lose control and their soul will be directionless. The song speaks about the fear of losing the light that keeps us grounded and helps us navigate the world.
Overall, the song Drive My Soul is a beautiful tribute to the power of love and the way it can guide us through life's uncertainties. It speaks about how the loss of someone important can leave us feeling lost and helpless, but also how their presence can make everything clear and bright.

This song brings me back when I was in a group home. I would listen to the radio when I was to lonely to sleep. I would look out the window & gaze at the sea of city lights dreaming of the future.
