When Lil B titled his last digital label released mixtape I'm Gay, he received several death threats. Although he is heterosexual, he says the title is a message of support to the LGBT community. Referring to the alternative definition of gay, he says he is gay because he is happy. Following the death threats, he added "I'm Happy" in parenthesis to the album's title. I'm Gay received positive reviews with many fans commenting on the album's wide variety of positive messages and noting the unique beats and lyrical styles not common to mainstream hip hop. He raps about many controversial issues including race relations, poverty, humanity, and the justice system. The album also, according to many fans, shows the "true" side of Lil B. It entered the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart at #56 and the Heatseekers Albums chart at #20 for the week of July 16, 2011. It is for sale on iTunes but Lil B also uploaded it to the Internet for free, posting a link to it on Twitter and Facebook saying, "for all my fans who don't have $10 to buy my album, here it is for free."
Lil B typically releases at least one mixtape every month; so far in 2012 he has released 13 mixtapes - 4 in July alone. One of those released in July was the massive 848-song, nearly 5GB collection of Based Freestyles, which is his largest release to date. In 2013, hip-hop listeners voted Lil B as the greatest rapper of all time.

Merry Christmas, bitch
BasedGod fuck my bitch, make her love me
I said life is a box of please trust me
Life's a box of chocolates with the bitches
Doing everything for these bitches
Flexing ten and I'm doing it for the bitches
It for the bitches
Life's a box of chocolates
Life's a box of chocolates
She falls in love, we fall in love
I'm a high-tech thug
Life's a box of chocolates
I said life's a box of chocolates it's Lil B
Life's a box of chocolates
Candy store get a piece
Open up the box, you'll see trick-or-treat
I rather be neither
I gotta do something different
Coming through your speakers
I need the BasedGod to fuck my bitch
I feel better under the weather
The mistletoe but I don't kiss hoes
I said I love Santa, he gained weight
You'll never catch me dancing on
The rocks with the fakes
Ho-ho-ho, Merry Christmas bitch
Stop faking and lying, I'm on your wishlist
2021, I'm coming through your chimney
Fucking all these hoes
Please don't get offended
I'm dropping off the presents for you
That's true
I said life's a box of chocolates
Life's a box of chocolates
Life's a box of chocolates based freestyle
Take your bitch to dinner! Take
That bitch to dinner! You dig?
Rolling through the chimney nigga
Life's a box of chocolates you dig?
Celebration, nigga

The repeated line "Life's a box of chocolates" is a metaphor for the unpredictability and variety of experiences that life brings. Lil B suggests that life, like a box of chocolates, offers both sweet and bitter moments, represented by the contrasting lines "Merry Christmas, bitch suck my dick, bitch" and "Merry Christmas, bitch."
The lyrics mention the desire for love and validation from others, with Lil B mentioning his desire for the "BasedGod" (a persona he embodies) to make his partner fall in love with him. He also emphasizes the importance of doing things differently and not conforming to societal expectations, as indicated by lines like "I rather be neither" and "Stop faking and lying, I'm on your wishlist." He concludes the song expressing his intention to bring joy and presents to others, symbolizing a celebration of life.
