Growing up, Boosie was hardened by the many difficult experiences he was put through. His neighborhood, notorious for drugs and violence, was a place feared by the general population. To outsiders, it was a jungle, to residents, it was life. Boosie got very involved in basketball to stay off the streets, and was actually expected to move on to college level basketball.
At 14 years old, Boosie moved in to live with his grandmother after his father was murdered over drugs. Growing up with no father figure and without a strong guiding hand, Boosie turned to drugs and crime. After being expelled from school, Boosie picked up freestyling and began to get serious about his music. Living in the 225, Boosie had no contacts, no real means of exposure. Lil Boosie teamed up with Baton Rouge rapper C-Loc in the late 1990s and made his debut on C-Loc's 5th album, "It's a Gamble", which also featured Three Six Mafia, South Park Mexican, and the rest of the Concentration Camp. This album was a saving grace for C-Loc, as he was slowly losing popularity. Releasing this album put him back in the spotlight, as he had a new young tallented rapper at his side. Baton Rouge couldn't get enough. Shortly afterwards, Boosie released his debut CD, "Youngest of the Camp", which sold over 10,000 units and featured fellow up and coming Baton Rouge rapper Max Minelli, which was exactly what boosie needed to jump start his career. The album spread like wildfire, every hood in Baton Rouge had flyers up for it, everybody was playing it.
After the incarceration, Boosie once again turned back to the streets. Ultimately, his behavior led to him also being incarcerated. At this point, Boosie felt as though he was a failure. However, fate lent Boosie a hand, and Boosie had an opportunity to join an up and coming record label called Trill Entertainment aka Trill Ent which was backed by Pimp-C of UGK. Trill signed Boosie and assisted him in bring his legal issues to an end. Soon after, Boosie and Trill independently released the CD "For my Thugs" under TrillEnt. This release went on to sell over 15,000 copies. Later in the summer of 2003, Boosie co-starred with one of his label-mates, Webbie, on the album "Ghetto Stories" which also went on to sell well over 15,000 copies.
Again paired up with Webbie, Lil Boosie's 2004 release, "Gangsta Musik" is what really gained him popularity. This CD featured the ever popular songs "Swerve" (which later made an appearance in the movie "Hustle and Flow"), "Give Me That", and "Bad Bitch". This was Boosie's first really popular album, actually penetrating the borders of Louisiana and reaching far beyond.
Boosie's talent was now undeniable, and he caught the eye of some Universal Records representatives. In late January of 2005, Boosie signed a deal with Universal, and released the CD "Boosie Bad Azz". This album, backed and promoted by Universal Records, was his strongest yet. Boosie continues to gain popularity at an astonishing rate, and is no stranger to trouble with the law. Already incarcerated for probation violation on drug and gun charges, the Trill Entertainment rapper and two associates (one of them only 17 years old) were indicted on first-degree murder charges by a grand jury on Thursday, June 17, 2010. The men are accused of being involved in the shooting of 35-year-old Terry Boyd in his own house in October. District attorney Hiler Moore stated that the killing seemed to be "over turf" and that if Lil Boosie is convicted the death penalty is not out of the question. The same day, Hatch was also indicted on multiple drug and conspiracy charges for smuggling large amounts of codeine, ecstasy and marijuana into prison with intent to distribute. His girlfriend, a prison guard and a fellow inmate were also charged as co-conspirators. In addition to these charges, prosecutors believe the 27-year-old rapper may have been involved in at least five other slayings.

(Verse 1)
I was raised in the jungle where dem killas swang vines
And if a nigga got a problem
Add it up its my nine
I was exposed to these killas out here doin they crimes
So all I know is load the clip up
And its some dirty cops out here
So I guess I can pay time
Throw down a couple racks and roll rite back to my place
Aint no need for no court its just another cold case
But when my nigga got locked up it was a slap in da face
I just hope I don't get caught up
And go and ketch me a case
I'll have yo baby momma cryin
Like she was sprayed wit some mace
And I got dat berry kush
Come and get you a taste
25 for a gram
come and spend you some bills
and light it up
and lean back it aint nothing but thrills
I don't fuck wit da rocks but I fuck wit da glocks
Hit ya up and leave you sinkin
Like you feel of a dock
Man these pussys pointing fingers
Like a muthaphukin clock
But when I let off dat choppa
I make they fucken heart stop
So you pussys cool wit me
If you don't tic or toc
In the song "Don't Know Why", Lil Boosie talks about his upbringing in a rough and dangerous environment. He was raised in the jungle where killers swung vines and shootings were an everyday affair. In this verse, Lil Boosie raps about his experience with crime, filthy cops, and the prison system. He highlights the need for self-defense in such an environment by loading up the clip and smoking his enemies. He understands the risk of going to jail, but he's willing to throw in money to pay for his freedom. Lil Boosie also mentions his drug dealing activities, where he sells berry kush for a high price and doesn't engage in the sale of rocks. Through his lyrics, Lil Boosie makes it clear that he is not afraid to kill those who challenge him, and warns that he can make a heart stop with his choppa.
One of the striking themes in this song is the glorification of gangster culture in the black community, which is reflected in Boosie's lyrics. The song speaks to the hopelessness that perpetuates the cycle of gang violence, drug activities, and crime in some African American neighborhoods. Lil Boosie notes that this is a systemic problem that is perpetuated by the lack of resources and opportunities in economically deprived communities. Overall, the song paints the picture of a young black man trying to survive and thrive in a world where violence is rampant and the justice system is corrupt.

Rap Song Mv Bill - Slum soldier (Soldado do morro) English subtitles
My condition is grim
I can't even go out, I can't chill
This live I live I can't play around
I'm packing a 9mm and an HK
For my safety and for peace in the slum
If something happens, I'm one more dead soldier
24 hours of tension
Watching cops and hating the enemies
I'm up for it 100%
There's one more full clip in my pocket
Now I can buy any clothes I want
A bunch of hoes wanting to fuck me
Envying my money they forget about the danger
Fashion here is to be a thug's wife
No success I keep my eyes wide open
They just smacked another fool who wanted to play smart
This shit harasses me 'Til the end
At this very moment my mom's praying for me
That's how It Is....
They stole my soul but didn't take my faith
I can't look myself in the mirror
I'm a warrior, red command (Brazilian gang)
My boo's home with my kid
Now I can offer them th e best things in life
Many times I felt less of a man, unemployed and my kid starving
It's too easy to criticize me, society has raised me
And now wants to kill me
To convict me and leave me to die in prison
I'd be a TV flash news
It'd be different if I was just a preppy boy
Raised with lots of goodles
Private high school, then college
No, that's not how my reality goes
I'm a regular nigga brave, filled with hate, slum soldier
(Chorus)
Ugly and smart with a badass face
Society has raised me as one more outcast
I have a 9mm and a HK filled with hate in the slum
I'm ready to pop caps
One for the power, two for the money
A lot of guys came in for the fame
Covered a drug house having lots of other options
Didn't last for long, woke up lying in the hole
My word is straight, bond
I heard it from an old thug
Standing here I don't have any brothers
Just this heater I hold in my hand
Like a bird defending its nest
I'll blast the first one who gets in my way
Outlaw, called a subject, now crime provides for me
I've begged in the streets, I've humiliated myself
I've been stomped at, only I know what I've been through
I know, It won't justify
My time is scarce I don't know how long I'll last
It's worst than asking for a favor
"Please give me a job, I've got a small kid, sir"
Huge line, me and three hundred others
After a very long wait, no jobs for the moment
Same shit everyday is fucked up, that's what causes revolt
I'm lost, one more nigga packing
I know, I'm stressed, who's to blame?
Who makes war and never dies for it
Distributes drugs that destroy the slum
Making money out of our reality
They've left me between crime and needs
(Chorus)
Ugly and smart with a badass face
Society has raised me as one more outcast
I have a 9mm and a HK filled with hate in the slum
I'm ready to pop caps
Violence in the slum has started to go down to the streets
Homicide, kidnapping, armed robbery
Those who should protect
Invade the slums gunshot at hand
I know the world I live in is wrong
But when I needed nobody was by my side
Wrong for wrong who never made a mistake?
That guy asking for votes has also killed
He put me on the rotten side of society
With lots of drugs, lot of guns, lots of evil
A life in crime Is a slow suicide
Bangu 1, 2, 3 (Prisons) my friends are in there
I know how it is, I know the end
A negative balance, one less outcast
For society to count, one less in the list
To add in the sad statistics
Of young guys like me who don't know what fear Is
Seduced by crime from an early age
Even knowing there's no future
I didn't want to be in this shit
I'm already losing, shot in the belly
In the next raid who knows If they'll kill me
And I'm leave my child alone
With a tendency to follow my path
If I fall only my mother will cry
In line there's a bunch of kids wanting my place
I don't know if it's worst to become a criminal
Or to work 'til death for 90$ minimum wage
Me in crime what an irony of fate
My mother's worried, her son's lost
While my time hasn't arrived
I'll see you in the slum sometime
(Chorus)
Ugly and smart with a badass face
Society has raised me as one more outcast
I have a 9mm and a HK filled with hate in the slum
I'm ready to pop caps
