Oh here we go, please let me know
Off we go, don't leave me in the cold
If I took you everywhere, then well, you wouldn't know how to walk
If I spoke on your behalf, then well, you wouldn't know how to talk
If I gave you everything and everything is what I bought
I didn't mean to make you mad, I don't like when you're upset
I'ma call you later on, baby girl, don't you forget
I'ma take you from this party, we might go and have some sex
Or we do that later on, now we lit like cigarettes
I thought you would stay with me
I'm yours and you're mine, I envy
So what I'm gon' do?
I don't have no clue, ain't no me without you
Oh here we go, please let me know
Off we go, don't leave me in the cold
If I took you everywhere, then well, you wouldn't know how to walk
If I spoke on your behalf, then well, you wouldn't know how to talk
If I gave you everything and everything is what I bought
I can take it all back, I never cared 'bout what you thought
I might spin the block on twelve horses
Buy the block and get a boss bitch
Grown man, but when the Henny hit
I might Milly Rock then get up off it
In the new days with my old ways
Game change, but the name don't
My whores change, is they main hoes
Got a lot of them, the whole stable
I don't lie to them, there's no fables
Rap don, country flavor
Now we worldwide, we made a big brand
Now our catalog is so major
Rodeo or Rodeo, hoe-folio is so player
Tomato or tomato, Nas X or Big Nas, this shit ride
Oh here we go, please let me know (Nas and Nas X)
Off we go, don't leave me in the cold (Big Nas and Lil Nas, yeah)
(I thought you would stay with me
I'm yours and you're mine, I envy
So what I'm gon' do?
I don't have no clue, ain't no me without you)
The lyrics of Lil Nas X's song "Rodeo" are full of emotions of love, envy, and frustration. The song starts with the artist admitting the potential harm that his excessive love and care could cause his partner, ultimately standing between her path to growth and independence. He seems to imply that his love has become a handicap and that his partner wouldn't know how to walk or talk if he took her everywhere and spoke on her behalf. In the same vein, Lil Nas X declares that he could take everything he provided back, thus demonstrating his power and control over their relationship.
The chorus of the song reassures his partner that he wants to remain close to her, and he is confused about what to do if she leaves him. The lyrics "I envy" suggest that the artist has a deep sense of admiration for his partner and the connection he shares with her. Nevertheless, the song implies that he is aware of the toxicity that exists in their relationship but still cannot envision a life without her.
Towards the end of the song, the artist boasts about his success but admits that his affinity for alcohol makes him think that he might still be his old self. In the final part of the song, Lil Nas X and Big Nas exchange verses, highlighting the intersectionality of rap genres and the possibility of reaching a more extensive audience.

Big Nas and Lil Nas. Two generations of hip hop together. I know a lot of you don't know who Nas is, but making this song with the guy was probably a dream come true for Lil Nas X. Speaks a lot to Nas' character that he never tired getting Lil Nas to change his stage name so that he wouldn't take clicks away from his name. He understands that this is the time for a new generation and that his spot on music history is carved in stone already
