Ayah Ibu kini tiada
Tlah lama aku tinggalkan
Pergi mengembara
Sedih tiada tempat bermanja
Sanak saudara pun tiada
Hanya aku seorang saja
Dusunku kinilah jauh
Jauh tiada tertempuh
Tempat aku dilahirkan Ibu
Hingga aku besar kini
Mencari nafkah sendiri
Hanya sendiri
Dusunku kinilah jauh
Jauh tiada tertempuh
Tempat aku dilahirkan Ibu
Hingga aku besar kini
Mencari nafkah sendiri
Hanya sendiri
Lilis Suryani's song "Dusunku" delves deeply into themes of nostalgia, loss, and solitude. The opening lines reveal a physical and emotional distance from the singer's home village, denoted by the phrase "Jauh jauh kini dari dusun," which conveys a sense of separation not only from a geographical location but also from the comfort and familiarity of one's roots. The mention of the parents' absence—"Ayah Ibu kini tiada"—infers a profound personal loss, marking a transition into adulthood while grappling with grief. This departure may symbolize an inevitable journey of seeking one's identity and survival, yet it is tinged with sadness, as the singer reflects on the moments left behind, suggesting a complex relationship with their past.
The subsequent verses accentuate feelings of isolation and abandonment, encapsulated in the sorrowful sentiment "Sedih tiada tempat bermanja." The absence of family—“Sanak saudara pun tiada”—deepens the emotional void, emphasizing that the singer is physically alone, “Hanya aku seorang saja.” This solitude not only echoes the pain of losing loved ones but also highlights the emotional weight carried when one leaves their community. The exploration of yearning for connection and a sense of belonging is palpable, evoking the universal human desire to find comfort in companionship, especially in times of sorrow.
As the song progresses, the repetition of "Dusunku kinilah jauh" reinforces a lingering connection to the singer's past while acknowledging the impossibility of returning to that place. The phrase captures both nostalgia for simpler times and the reality that those days cannot be recaptured. The lyrics vividly paint a picture of the village—where the singer was born and raised—which serves as a symbol of identity and foundation. "Tempat aku dilahirkan Ibu" acts as a poignant reminder that home is not merely a physical space but a repository of memories and formative experiences, evoking a deep sense of longing for the past that can never be fully relived.
Ultimately, the final lines bring the devastating realization of the singer’s journey into adulthood—“Mencari nafkah sendiri / Hanya sendiri." Here, the focus shifts from the warmth of familial love to the stark realities of adult life and self-reliance. The singer must confront the responsibilities of seeking a livelihood in solitude, embodying a universal struggle faced by many who leave home seeking opportunities. Yet, the repeated lament of distance emphasizes the emotional cost of such independence—a tension between the need to move forward in life and the enduring love for one’s roots. This duality enriches the song's narrative, making it a moving reflection on life's inevitable progress and the bittersweet nature of growth and change.
