(Rap)
If you play with your cube
When you watch the tube
You're gonna wind up on the grid
It's on the air
You're gonna wind up on the grid
When you turn the knob
And you do a good a job
You wind up on the grid
You press the button
It feels like nothin'
And you wind up on the grid
(Repeat Throughout)
No problem
(Repeat Throughout)
On the grid
(Keyboard Solo)
(Repeat Rap)
The song "On the Grid" by Lime is a catchy, upbeat rap tune with a message about the effects of technology and passive consumption on our lives. The rap verses caution against mindlessly playing with a Rubik's Cube or watching television, as these activities can lead to being “on the grid” – a metaphor for being stuck in a virtual, connected world where one's actions are controlled and monitored.
The lyrics suggest that even seemingly innocuous actions such as turning a knob or pressing a button can have a profound impact on our relationship with technology and society. The keyboard solo, on the other hand, provides a moment of contemplation and reflection, allowing the listener to pause and consider the message being conveyed.
Overall, "On the Grid" is a thought-provoking song about the dangers of our addiction to technology and the importance of being mindful of our actions and choices.
