The Truth
Limp Bizkit (H) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You can't sleep, you're restless
and slightly obsessed with falling too deep
and malfunction, you're a virus
who's intention is fucking up something
You're a crater
on the face of a problem much greater
It's the violence, or lack thereof control
Body and soul, digging a hole
Is the blood stainless?
Enjoy the pain with accepting your grief
Are you finished?
Dumb fucking question, don't let yourself fall asleep
Ressurect the intention
Once your vision is now mass-produced,
Imagine the insults a blessing
imagine accepting the truth

Imagine accepting the truth
Imagine accepting the truth
imagine accepting the truth
Just imagine accepting the truth
Imagine accepting the truth

The pendulum swinging
Hypnosis has taken control, now you linger
on a shadow of a doubt
Have you really figured what you're all about?
Don't trust your instincts
Just open the chamber where you keep those darkest regrets
All the things you've done wrong
Rebellious at heart all along
Is your leader a voice?
Somehow you replaced all your game with a debt
Now the payback's a bitch
Why owe your life to a bitch?
Absolutely pathetic
and regret it when told you are made of mistakes
Imagine the insults a blessing
imagine accepting the truth

Imagine accepting the truth
Imagine accepting the truth
imagine accepting the truth
imagine accepting the truth
Imagine accepting the truth

Now speak to your leader!
Now speak to your leader!

Your father who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name, deliver us from evil, deliver us from evil
Your father who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name, deliver us from evil, deliver us from evil
Our father who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name, deliver me from evil, deliver me from evil
Our father who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name, deliver me from evil, deliver me from evil

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "The Truth" by Limp Bizkit explore the theme of self-reflection and the struggle with inner demons. The song suggests that we are all flawed and prone to making mistakes, but we need to accept the truth about ourselves in order to move forward. The opening lines convey a sense of restlessness and obsession, as the singer is unable to sleep due to their inner turmoil. They are compared to a virus, whose intention is to cause harm and disruption. The next lines compare the singer to a crater on the face of a larger problem, highlighting the idea that one's individual struggles are insignificant compared to the bigger picture. The violence (or lack thereof) and the lack of control are mentioned as factors that may contribute to the singer feeling lost.

The chorus encourages the listener to imagine accepting the truth, which is repeated multiple times throughout the song. The lyrics suggest that accepting one's flaws and mistakes may be painful but ultimately necessary. The pendulum swinging represents the singer's constant struggle between different aspects of their personality. They are urged not to trust their instincts and to dig deep into their darkest regrets to truly understand themselves. The leader mentioned in the song could represent a guiding force or a personal demon that the singer needs to confront in order to move forward. The song ends with references to the Lord's Prayer, asking for deliverance from evil and a release from inner turmoil.

lately I've been reconnecting with my childhood jams and
finding great enlightment and bringing me back to my youth days.
One such band that brings me there was Limp Bizkit. 2 New songs
in particular, well new to me anyway are The Truth and Walking Away.
While most people state that Chocolate Starfish and The Hotdog Flavored Water
was their best album, I disagree while it was good I still gotta go with
The Significant Other released in 99. It was the pop culture and TRL
and that which I was into and both then, since, and to this day puts
a gleam on the gem that is their best works for me. My brother two years
under me had bought this album while I was in high school and I borrowed
it quite a bit to listen to it and headbang to it on my portabl cd player
and headphones. While the only cd I bought of them was Results May Vary
I still think Significant Other is their best and has a genuine place in pop culture
and that time musically and culturally when you see those videos that were
playing a lot on MTV at the time such as Nookie and Rearranged even today
just brings me back to a place when I had more energy and was a teen haha.
That's why I still like Significant Other the best to this day. But lately
as I said The Truth and Walking Away those are awesome and I found
some other songs I like which I had not known about of Limp Bizkit
which were on the unquestionable truth part 1 all 7 tracks.
and some of their other very good songs of Limp Bizkit is Faith, Why, Bittersweet Home. In particular I'm very happy they did the song bittersweet home.
With that song, they combined two awesome songs together. I'm suprised this song and the way they did it did not become incredibly popular. Perhaps its just because music is not popularized how it used to be so its more low key and take what you want. So it takes someone to point these things out. But Bittersweet Home is an awesome song! They took one of my favorite songs ever which has a lot of meaning to me which is Bittersweet Symphony by the Verve. Also his story as actually really incredible mr. Fred Durst and his grow up documentary made me appreciate him as an artist that much more. Wish he would do more materials like all these favorites I've talked about on this comment. I'm not a fan of his latest material but am glad he's still being an Artist and producing new materials/songs. Nonetheless as I said, I really appreciate his artistry and his impact on music in general. He could shout and screem with feeling and make it sound good and give the songs vibrancy and though other artists have also done it, he used elements of rap and heavy metal and hard rock and created beautiful songs that stand today as still real good and unique. It bothers me that the music I loved particularly of late 90's to early 2000's basically died off by mid 2000's somewhere around 2006 then there were few hits I was ever interested in. But the funny thing is there were so many good songs and hits also from those years of about 1998 to 2006 in like every music genre. Then since then not many that I liked much. Some hits from Lady Gaga I liked, and black eyed peas and its like what happened to all the other good popular music? those artists set the bar high and popular music evolved into something entirely different which I consider aren't good songs and aren't good music since like 2006 for the most part. that's how I feel.
