Referring to their style of hardcore punk music, the band declared in Frontiers Newsmagazine, “We put the ‘core’ back in homocore”. Their first recording was the self-released demo Don't Knock It Till You Try It. This was followed by a single called “What’s Up With The Kids” and then the self-titled LP Limp Wrist. However, since band members lived in different states maintaining the group became difficult. After an interlude they resumed touring in 2004 and self-released a new CD, Thee Official Discography the same year. The song “Ode” from this recording pays tribute to pioneering gay hardcore musicians Gary Floyd of The Dicks, Randy “Biscuit” Turner of Big Boys and Joshua Plague of Mukilteo Fairies and Behead The Prophet, No Lord Shall Live, providing a historical context for Limp Wrist.
The band’s best known song is “I Love Hardcore Boys, I Love Boys Hardcore”, which received much attention from fans and press alike. Lead singer Martin Sorrondeguy appears in "Queercore: A Punk-u-mentary" by Scott Treleaven and addresses the issue implicit in these song titles, what some might view as the apparent struggles of being both queer and being involved in the punk scene.
In 2004 Sorrondeguy released his own documentary film, "Beyond The Screams: A U.S. Latino Hardcore Punk Documentary." He had begun the film while still a member of his former band Los Crudos.
The band continues to perform and self-release records including the Want Us Dead 7" in 2006, featuring the songs Fake Fags and Want us Dead and a one-sided 12" in 2008 featuring Spun, and Bought Out.
Relatives Got Nerve
Limp Wrist Lyrics

I'm not playing this whole wedding game
Photos of boys on my walls don't seem to convince
I'm never gonna be some girls prince!
Clue in the uncles and aunts about my game
Cuz family dinners just won't be the same
One more word about a kid and a wife
Me and my man are crashing dinner on Christmas night
they got a whole lot of fucking nerve
The lyrics of Limp Wrist's song Relatives Got Nerve reflect the frustration of gay individuals who have to constantly justify their sexuality to their family members. The song starts with the singer being asked for his girlfriend's name, which he refuses to answer, as he is not willing to conform to societal norms and pretend he is someone he is not. He then goes on to express his disinterest in getting married, as his sexual preferences make it impossible for him to be someone's prince. The lyrics further highlight the tribulations of being gay in a society that has deeply entrenched gender roles and heteronormative expectations. The singer is tired of having to explain his attraction to boys to his family members and is adamant that they should clue in the uncles and aunts about his game.
The song culminates in the singer warning his family that he will crash dinner on Christmas night with his partner if they persist in discussing the topic of his marital status or his potential to father a kid. Limp Wrist's Relatives Got Nerve is a poignant portrayal of the struggles of LGBTQ individuals in conservative societies where non-heteronormative behavior is looked down upon and criticized. The song highlights the importance of family acceptance and understanding, without which LGBTQ folks are subjected to constant judgment and rejection.
