Meet the latest graduate of King's College
I probably shouldn't brag, but dag, I amaze and astonish
The scholars say I got that same virtuosity and brains as my Pop's
The ladies say my brain's not where the resemblance stops

I'm only nineteen, but my mind is older
Gotta be my own man, like my father, but bolder
I shoulder his legacy with pride,
I used to hear him say that someday I would

Blow us all away!

Ladies, I'm looking for a Mr. George Eacker
Made a speech last week, our Fourth of July speaker
He disparaged my father's legacy in front of a crowd
I can't have that, I'm making my father proud

I saw him just up Broadway a couple of blocks
He was going to see a play

Well, I'll go visit his box

God, you're a fox!

Hey, y'all look pretty good in your frocks
How 'bout when I get back, we all strip down to our socks?

Okay!
Yeah!

Blow, blow, blow us all away!

George! George!

Shh, I'm tryna watch a show!

You should've watched your mouth before you talked about my father though!

I didn't say anything that wasn't true.
Your father's a scoundrel and so it seems are you

Oooh!

It's like that?

Yeah, I don't fool around
I'm not your little schoolboy friends

I'll see you on the dueling ground!
That is, unless you want to step outside and go now

I know where to find you
Piss off, I'm watching the show now

Pops, if you had only heard the shit he said about you
I doubt you woulda let it slide and I was not about to

Slow down.

I came to ask you for advice, this is my very first duel
They don't exactly cover this subject in boarding school

Did your friends attempt to negotiate a peace?

He refused to apologize, we had to let the peace talk cease

Where is this happening?

Across the river in Jersey

Everything is legal in New Jersey

All right,
So this is what you're gonna do
Stand there like a man until Eacker is in front of you
When the time comes, fire your weapon in the air
This will put an end to the whole affair

But what if he decides to shoot, then I'm a goner

No, he'll follow suit if he's truly a man of honor
To take someone's life, that is something you can't shake
Phillip, your mother can't take another heartbreak

Father—

Promise me
You don't want this young man's blood on your conscience

Okay, I promise

Come back home when you're done
Take my guns, be smart
Make me proud, son

My name is Phillip
I am a poet
And I'm a little nervous, but I can't show it
I'm sorry, I'm a Hamilton with pride
You talk about my father, I cannot let it slide!
Mr. Eacker! How was the rest of your show?

I'd rather skip the pleasantries, let's go
Grab your pistol

Confer with your men
The duel will commence after we count to ten

Count to ten!

Look him in the eye, aim no higher
Summon all the courage you require
Then slowly and clearly, aim your gun towards the sky!

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven—

Overall Meaning

This song, "Blow Us All Away," features the character of Phillip Hamilton, son of Alexander Hamilton, as he seeks revenge against George Eacker for insulting his father's legacy. The song opens with Phillip bragging about his intellect and maturity despite being only 19 years old. He shares how he intends to be his own man like his father but bolder, and he carries his father's legacy with pride. Phillip vows to blow everyone away someday, referring to his potential to leave a mark on the world like his father. Later in the song, Phillip finds Eacker and challenges him to a duel after the latter insults his father's legacy. Hamilton advises Phillip on how to handle the situation, insisting that he should fire his gun into the air and avoid shooting Eacker. The song ends with Phillip counting to ten as he and Eacker prepare to duel.

Overall, the song is about living up to a famous parent's legacy and finding one's own place in the world. Phillip feels the pressure to uphold his father's reputation, and his desire to seek revenge against Eacker displays a sense of pride and loyalty towards his family. The message of the song is somewhat conflicting, as it opposes violence in the form of duelling, but also highlights the importance of standing up for oneself and one's family.

@Paridhi Chawla [Hamilton:]
I hadn't slept in a week
I was weak, I was awake
You never seen a bastard orphan
More in need of a break
Longing for Angelica
Missing my wife
That's when Miss Maria Reynolds walked into my life, she said:

[Maria:]
I know you are a man of honor
I'm so sorry to bother you at home
But I don't know where to go, and I came here all alone…

[Hamilton:]
She said:

[Maria:]
My husband's doin' me wrong
Beatin' me, cheatin' me, mistreatin' me...
Suddenly he's up and gone
I don't have the means to go on

[Hamilton:]
So I offered her a loan, I offered to walk her home, she said

[Maria:]
You're too kind, sir

[Hamilton:]
I gave her thirty bucks that I had socked away
She lived a block away, she said:

[Maria:]
This one's mine, sir

[Hamilton:]
Then I said, "Well, I should head back home,"
She turned red, she led me to her bed
Let her legs spread and said:

[Maria:]
Stay?

[Hamilton:]
Hey…

[Maria:]
Hey…

Screw your courage to the sticking place
You and I can go

Take a break
Take a break and get away
Run away with us for the summer
Let's go upstate
Where we can stay
We can all go stay with our father

Potente
Llevando un legado con orgullo
Me solían decir
Algún día
Nos sorprenderás
Disculpen,busco a Mr. George Eacker
El pasado 4 de Julio un discurso hizo
Menospreciando mi legado enfrente de una multitud
No lo soporto
Haré honor a mi papá
Lo ví justo en Brodway a un par manzanas
Iba a ver una obra
Bueno,lo iré visitar
Dios,eres un zorro
Y ustedes tan preciosas
¿Que tal si cuando vuelva, las voy a visitar?
Ookay!
Nos sorprenderás
George!
Shh!
George!
Trato de ver el show!
Debes cuidar tu boca antes de hablar de mi padre
No dije nada que no haya sido verdad
Tu padre un escandalo
Lo mismo digo a ti
Ah ¿si?
Si no estoy jugando
No soy tu amiguito
Pues te veo en el duelo
A no ser que quieras ir afuera
Y arreglarlo ahora
Sé donde encontrarte
Estoy viendo show ahora

Fun facts:
- the line about Eliza not being able to take another heartbreak refers not to the events of the reynolds pamphlet and burn but to the fact that Peggy had died earlier in the year (Peggy died in March, Phillip died in November)
- After Phillips death his younger sister Angelica suffered a severe mental breakdown and lived the rest of her life in an “eternal childhood” unable to take care of herself

@frann I'm a little late to this message but the worst way to die back then is probably infection of any kind, especially if it's from amputation, cuz they didn't have access to Anesthesia back then so how they would amputate is that they'd get the patient drunk then just saw off the limb that needed amputation.
