Love is a Many Splendoured Thing
Linda Saxone Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Love is a many splendored thing
It's the April rose that only grows in the early Spring
Love is nature's way of giving a reason to be living
The golden crown that makes a man a king
Once on a high and windy hill, In the morning mist
Two lovers kissed and the world stood still
Then your fingers touched my silent heart and taught it how to sing
Yes, true love's a many splendored thing

Love is a many splendored thing
It's the April rose that only grows in the early Spring
Love is nature's way of giving a reason to be living
The golden crown that makes a man a king
Once on a high and windy hill, In the morning mist
Two lovers kissed and the world stood still

Then your fingers touched my silent heart and taught it how to sing
Yes, true love's a many splendored thing

Never heard of her before, but she's great!....When she hit the high notes she wounds like a young Jane Morgan.

A very nice arrangement of this song , its nice to see this song pepped up a bit faster, excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed this, thank you.

This recording is very good. Who ever thought that someone could "rock" this beautiful song. But it sounds great, fine vocalist. And people complained when Kathy Kirby "rocked" Secret Love & Let Me Go Lover. Please, some classic songs do sound great with a bit a of rock 'n' roll beat to them! Thank you for the upload!

Csodálatos ez a dal, nagyon tetszett.
Köszönöm ezt a szép élményt.

There is something "Pet Clarkish" about this song....In May of '64 Beatlemania was fully in force while so many other artists literally fought their way up the chart....LOTS of varied artists during this time.  I think competition for the top of the charts was tough.  Somehow I think Linda's "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing" might have just fit right in with the rest of the many, many hits vying for the top. This song just SOARS from the opening note all the way through it's dramatic finale!

@TheLimePopsicle

mrob75 I wonder if it was inspired by Kathy Kirby's powered remakes of '50's hits, such as "Secret Love" and "Let Me Go Lover" which where popular at the same time.

@rskissack

To the Lime Popsicle: :-) I strongly agree with you!! I love the original version - but there is something to be said for a different version - especially one with a different arrangement and a strong voice like Ms. Saxone's. This illustrates why what you do on YouTube is important: there are a lot of diamonds in the sand out there - ones that we would never know about were it not for you! And you're right: this should have been a major hit. Thank you for posting it! Keep up the good work!
