(Yesiree Yesiree Yesiree)

Well out of all the boys that I ever knew
I'd like to spend my time with you-hoo-hoo
Yesiree (Yesiree Yesiree)
You're the one for me. (Yesiree Yesiree)
And I want to tell you something baby.
(Yesiree) Yesiree (Yesiree )

Well once in a while I'd look around
A-searchin for a fella but always found
Yesiree (Yesiree Yesiree)
You're the one for me (Yesiree Yesiree)
And I'm gonna let you know it, honey.
(Yesiree) Yesiree (Yesiree)

You better listen carefully. I'll tell you what's been buggin' me.
The talk around is very strong. You're treatin' me so wro-ah-ong.
Now I'm gonna tell you just how to treat me right.
Take me in you arms and hold me oh so tight.
Yesiree (Yesiree Yesiree) You're the one for me (Yesiree Yesiree)
Now for the last time honey baby Whoaaa (Yesiree) Yesiree (Yesiree)

You better listen carefully, and I wlll tell you what is buggin' me.
The talk around is very strong. You're treatin' me so wro-ah-ong.
Now I'm gonna tell you just how to treat me right.
So take me in you arms and hold me oh so tight.
Yesiree (Yesiree Yesiree) Well you're the one for me (Yesiree Yesiree)
Now for the last time honey baby Whoaaa (Yesiree) Yesiree (Yesiree)

I don't mean maybe Yesiree (Yesiree Yesiree)
C'mon baby Yesiree

Overall Meaning

The song "Yessiree" by Linda Scott is a classic love song which highlights the singer's undying love for her special someone. The song starts with an affirmation that out of all the boys that she has known, she desires to spend time with the one that she is directing the song to. The use of repetition in the lyrics accentuates the unending love that the singer has for her lover, as she exclaims "Yesiree" multiple times throughout the song. She acknowledges that it took a while for her to find the right one and expresses her excitement for finally finding the person she wants to be with.

The second verse highlights a dilemma where people around her are talking about her lover treating her wrongly. She takes the opportunity to tell him how to treat her right by holding her tight in his arms. The repetition of the song title 'Yesiree' is used as a confirmation of the singer's confidence in her choice of lover. The song culminates in a reaffirmation of the finality of her decision to stick with her boyfriend, with the lyrics, "I don't mean maybe, Yesiree."

Am I right that Linda wrote this herself? She's fantastic.

@onepieceoflife7136

I'm 22 now, this song is still a hit for me

@kevinstewart449

Wow!!! I liked Linda's songs which I listened to on Top 40 Station CJCA, but I've only ever seen a few pictures of her. This is GREAT, first time seeing her in action ... and I really liked Yessiree. If this clip was actually shot in '62, she would only have been 17 .... more WoW!!! Thanks for this GSMM.

@charliegangler7999

@johnnymac8680

What a delight to find Linda singing this upbeat song!

@johnking6550

Thanks for this very fine posting(correct aspect ratio & good resolution)of this superb vocalist doing one of her own compositions...an extremely catchy tune that never caught on the way that it should have...a great little rocker...both the song and Linda.

@DeniseFactor

I adore Linda Scott and that's how they did it way back then.

@LifeOfJimbo

John, was linda succesful on the UK musical charts?
I was born in '98, but know mostly about the girls and guys who were succesful during the 50s, Alma Cogan, Teresa, Brewer Doris Day, and Rosemary Clooney, of course

@jimmyboylikeehamilton8276

Yeah, it looks like way back then they didn't have all this PC culture crap and wok mentality, and people getting offended at the drop of a hat, and probably a lot less crime in the big cities and oh my goodness, people probably trusted each other more way back then! And yes, Linda Scott has a great voice and maybe she still records!
