You go further out to sea
Every time you drift away from me
I don't see you anymore
You've been taken by the storm
The tide will never bring you back to me
Cause I cannot let you down
And I'll try to save you
Cause I will not watch you drown
All alone
Though our love has lost it's sail
I'm not gonna let this fail
I will find you bring you back to me
And I'll try to save you
Cause I cannot let you down
And I'll try to save you
Cause I will not watch you drown
All alone
(bridge)
And I'll try to save you
Cause I cannot let you down
And I'll try to save you
Cause I will not watch you drown
All alone
Said I will not watch you drown
All alone
The lyrics of Lindi Ortega's song "Drift" convey a message of love and determination against all odds. The opening lines illustrate the sense of distance and detachment that the singer feels as her partner seems to move further and further away from her. The metaphor of drifting out to sea suggests the uncontrollable nature of the situation and the helplessness of the singer. She can only watch as her loved one disappears from view, being taken by the storm, with no hope of coming back to her.
Despite this, the chorus reveals the singer's unwavering dedication to her partner. She cannot let him down, and she cannot watch him drown. She is committed to saving him, no matter what the cost, even if it means going against the currents of life.
The bridge offers a glimmer of hope that the couple can be reunited once again. The lyrics "I will find you, bring you back to me" show the singer's determination and resilience in the face of adversity. Overall, these lyrics convey a deep sense of love, loss, and determination to overcome life's obstacles.
