Lola
Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Sure knows how to treat her man
Lola my love
She does everything a woman can
When I come home one thing on my mind
She knows just what I'm lookin' for
And in the morning after
I say
Lola-Lola
Lola-Lola
Races are run
Some people win
Some people always have to lose
The song Lola has been interpreted in different ways, but at its core, it is about the singer's love for a woman named Lola. He praises her ability to treat him well and satisfy his desires. The repetition of "Lola my love" and "Lola-Lola" highlights the intensity of his feelings for her. The lyrics also suggest that their relationship may be physical as well, with the mention of satisfying him in the morning after.
The second verse takes on a more philosophical tone, with the statement that "races are run" and some people always lose. This can be interpreted as a reflection of life's ups and downs, and the inevitability of some people being more successful than others. The contrast between the personal love story and the larger theme of life's inequalities adds depth to the song.

Ok I am so happy I discovered buckingham nicks
@LFire12
Love this Album so many great tracks. Whatever about what happened later, they really did bring the best out of one another (even when things had gone off the rails). If I recall correctly, this (like Stefanie) is about Stevie, but she didn't want Lindsey using her name as the context was pretty evident, and so it became Lola.

Good I had to listen again and again and again.

Massive "The Chain" vibe going on here
@blakeennis4746
This song was used as the basis for "The Chain".
@Ethan-de3we
This and "keep me there" were used heavily in making that song
@FfukieBonga
Sections of this track were 'spliced' into The Chain using old fashioned tape and razor blade to combine the elements. Actually, apart from the drums and bass the whole track is created from previously recorded songs (Check Christine McVie's Keep Me There to hear the original chord structure) and with heavy use of the 'Tape Splicing' method. Simply genius!

@zodspeed
This album really proves that Lindsey Buckingham was the sound of Fleetwood Mac.
