So beautiful. Titanium was a great choice of material for this video. You should do a series of slow motion Welding for different processes.

Also, were there any sort of filter lens you guys used to record this process?

kaiwen zhang

Was this recorded by a high speed camera? Because the working space inside the LFW machine was supposed to be very small/narrow and a high speed camera is usually too large to put in.

Ryan Clark

Why rely on friction stir welding when you can do friction shake welding?

Shaken, not stirred?

Caio Romani

How much of its thickness is lost in the process?

Julian Fischer

Wouldn't this be considered an extremely uneven weld?

Tuttomenui

That is why there is so much waste because the process goes long enough for the heat to be even. The waste isn't really waste though it is something that would be calculated into the process. The other video i was watching was talking about turbine blades. Would make for cheaper jet engines but they would be throw away engines. Although I guess you could just cut the blades off and just weld new ones on.

fangio92

+Julian Fischer aircraft manufacturers have approval procedures for this technique, guess it is even.

Curtis Yue

You learn something new every day.

PTONPC

Is there a physical size or mass limit to this process?  How much wastage is there compared to stir welding?
