Waiting For The End
Linkin Park/Musicfire.in Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

This is not the end
This is not the beginning
Just a voice like a riot
Rocking every revision
But you listen to the tone
And the violent rhythm
And though the words sound steady
Something empty's within 'em

We say, "yeah"
With fists flying up in the air
Like we're holding onto something
That's invisible there
'Cause we're living at the mercy of
The pain and the fear
Until we dead it, forget it
Let it all disappear

Waiting for the end to come
Wishing I had strength to stand
This is not what I had planned
It's out of my control

Flying at the speed of light
Thoughts were spinning in my head
So many things were left unsaid
It's hard to let you go

I know what it takes to move on
I know how it feels to lie
All I wanna do
Is trade this life for something new
Holding on to what I haven't got

Sitting in an empty room
Trying to forget the past
This was never meant to last
I wish it wasn't so

I know what it takes to move on
I know how it feels to lie
All I wanna do
Is trade this life for something new
Holding on to what I haven't got

Yeah, yeah
What was left when that fire was gone?
I thought it felt right but that right was wrong
All caught up in the eye of the storm
Tryna figure out what it's like moving on
And I don't even know what kind of things I've said
My mouth kept moving and my mind went dead
So, picking up the pieces, now where to begin?
The hardest part of ending is starting again

All I wanna do
Is trade this life for something new
Holding on to what I haven't got

This is not the end
This is not the beginning
Just a voice like a riot
Rocking every revision (I'm holding on to what I haven't got)
But you listen to the tone
And the violent rhythm
And though the words sound steady
Something empty's within 'em

We say, "yeah"
With fists flying up in the air
Like we're holding onto something
That's invisible there
'Cause we're living at the mercy of (holding on to what I haven't got)
The pain and the fear

Until we dead it, forget it
Let it all disappear

Overall Meaning

In "Waiting for the End," Linkin Park is describing a feeling of being lost and stuck in a never-ending cycle of pain and fear. The opening lines set the tone for the song, suggesting that the current state of things is not the end nor the beginning. The following lines talk about a voice that's like a riot, rocking every revision, suggesting that there's been an upheaval but, despite it, nothing has really changed or improved. The repetition of the phrase "holding onto something that's invisible there" highlights the singer's sense of desperation and the dwindling sense of hope.

The main chorus emphasizes this sense of desperation when they sing about waiting for the end to come, wishing for strength to stand, and the feeling of being out of control. The verses describe how it feels to be stuck in this situation, with thoughts spinning around in the singer's head, trying to forget the past, and moving on from the storm. The hardest part of ending is starting again, illustrated by the lines "picking up the pieces, now where to begin?".

Overall, "Waiting for the End" is a powerful song that captures a feeling of despair and uncertainty. It speaks of the struggle to move on and hold on to hope during difficult times.

Thanks a lot for this nice comment ! It's nice to read things like this. I just use a free software called Audacity, there's no need of a professional software ^^ Numb w/ Outro and The Requiem are part of my projects. I hope I will finish all of them one day to share them all with you.

OldManJeinkinz

dangit, this is awesome, but the reason why I loved the outro so much is that chester sang a high b, and it went into the tonic
Awesome otherwise

Vault Tec

Could you please do one with the Wall Of Noise outro? Waiting For The End is my favorite song and I love that version same as this one. Great job.

ReanimatingTheEnd

A huge thank you :)

Thank you very much. Glad you're following me :)

pitchblacksuperdarkh

Of all the others on YouTube Ive heard you are by far the most professional sounding, is mashing up these songs something anyone could do if they had the right software? Also I would love to hear a Studio version of Numb with the Oppenheimer Outro and The Requiem with the undistorted Savio intro too when you find the time, keep up the good work

MattJot

Could You add an instrumental of this 1? I mean the version with long intro... :)
