More seriously, this is probably the deepest and most meaningful song they've ever written, and definitely Chester's best vocal performance. Just hearing his voice makes you realize how much this song was important to him and that it has much more depth than any lyric he screamed.

I really do love this song in the live versions, but, Chester himself said they didn't do anything to the vocals when recording this song, he just sang it with his heart, and seeing as recording studios are near perfect as far as acoustics, I think this version may be the best version of it.

It's now 2 something in the morning, I'm listening to this on repeat, reading all the comments while I lay in bed in a puddle of my own tears and emotions. Iridescent is another great song. There’s a verse with a line like “as if the heavens were blown into stars”. To me, it hit on the isolation when I was a teenager turning away from religion but just starting to find the beautiful curiosity of the world. And that was just 1 verse. It's been almost two years since Chester's suicide, and I've been wracking my brain on what to say ever since. I will, though, write this:

While this is probably nothing new, I have suffered from - and continue to deal with- depression and suicidal ideation. "The Messenger", like "One More Light" and indeed many of his songs, are painful, but also comforting to listen to. Painful because listeners found someone who accurately shared their experiences, especially now in the wake of his death. Comforting because a generation of listeners like me found someone who understood, and more importantly, someone who pulled us back from the edge. It should go without saying that he left behind plenty of reasons to be missed.

This has been said dozens of times already, but while Chester is gone, he lives on in his work, and that's some measure of consolation. I still listen to Linkin Park's music, especially on some of those bad days, and while I feel sadness, it still brings me the same joy I felt listening to them years ago as an 11-year-old kid. I hope that's what people take away from this as well.

I've never had depression, so when I said this theory, in front of a depression person once, she thinks I'm wrong. But I think music can cure depression. I was just explaining how powerful linkin parks songs are. Sometimes, I feel like the most powerful linkin parks songs are those that feel desperate, but from the lyrics, it shows hope. And it just makes you cry. From his scream, we scream with him inside. And that makes us cry. Depression or whatever negative emotions can be let out in some degree. Like depression must be those negative emotions being held in for too long. That's why people need to express. Linkin Parks' music just does that all the time. And I really think music is powerful enough to change people. It's art, and it's something that only humans do. So it definitely has something special to it. If a guy don’t listen to music, he's crazy. Even serial killers listen to music. So it saddens me that the girl I talk with, don't feel music can cure depression. I just feel like she's lost hope.

Here again because Mike shared this on his Twitter and hour ago. My heart broke for Mike. He's got such a huge heart to come out of his mourning and whatever heartbreaking thing he is going through right now just to help the fans coping with the loss too. Not to mention he's helping the rest of the guys too for speaking on behalf of them in this extremely hard and sad time. I hope Mike will take time to properly heal from this and take care of himself. I'm sure Chester won't want anything bad to happen to him (and the rest of the guys) too.
