Stuck in a War
Lior Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You say i'm the one that used to get you so high
Now sugar of angels is always worth another try
You claim that you're mellow but you're stuck in a war

Take one good look
Now tell me why you sore

You still got my money and you're sitting on dessert
You like to keep it coming though you know it's gonna hurt
Flat tyer desire boiling on the pressure cooker
You say bring it on
C'mon just a little bit harder

And you know it
You know it
You know it
You know it
You know it
You know it
That times are a changing
And everybody's growing
But you're not moving on

Parading your freedom
Through the bars you hide behind
But i see the child
Look through the windows of your mind
I've seen you naked
So free and wild
I know most of what you hide

And you know it
You know it
You know it
You know it
You know it
You know it
That times are a changing
And everybody's growing
But you're not moving on

And you know it
You know it
You know it
You know it
You know it
You know it
That times are a changing

And everybody's growing
But you're not moving on

Overall Meaning

In the song "Stuck in a War," Lior speaks about a person who is stuck in a cycle of destructive behavior. This person used to rely on the singer for a rush or high, but has now turned to other things, like "sugar of angels," to achieve the same feeling. Despite claiming to be "mellow," the person is clearly still fighting a personal battle. The lyrics hint at some kind of addiction or self-destructive behavior, as the person is taking money they owe and indulging in things that they know will hurt them.

Lior then implores this person to take a good look at themselves and ask why they continue to engage in this behavior, despite knowing the consequences. The person's desire is like a "flat tire," slowly boiling over like a "pressure cooker." They claim to be able to handle anything, asking for it to be brought on, but Lior knows that this behavior cannot last forever.

In the second stanza, Lior speaks about the person's freedom, which is actually just a facade behind which they are hiding. The singer has seen this person at their lowest, and while they may parade around like they have total control and freedom, Lior knows they are just "looking through the windows of your mind." The ultimate message of the song is that while everybody else is moving on and growing, this person is stuck in their own cycle of destructive behavior.
