Narkis dreamed of becoming a singer since childhood. He released his first album, Tfilat Chayay (The Prayer of My Life) at the age of 16. A few years later during his military service in the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), Narkis joined Tamir Tzur to form the first Mediterranean musical group.
His sixth album, Rak Itakh (Only with You), which includes the hit "Lekhol Ekhad Yesh" (Everyone Has), placed Narkis at the center stage of Israeli music. This song was also chosen as the "Song of the Year" in Israel, and was very popular among football (soccer) fans. In 2001, Narkis released his album Ze Mehalev (Straight from the Heart). As with his previous albums, this was a great success and many of its songs became hits.
In 2003, the song "Millim Laahava" ("Words for Love") won at the national finals organized by the Israeli Broadcasting Authority ("IBA") television channel, Channel One, against three other songs for the privilege to represent Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003, due to his prominence and popularity on the Israeli popular music scene.[citation needed] The song ended up 19th out of the 26 Eurovision finalists.
At the age of 26, Narkis released his eighth album Millim Laahava (Words for Love), named after his Eurovision entry.

The song "Words for Love" by Lior Narkis expresses the difficulty in finding the right words to express one's love. The lyrics talk about how there are millions of words for love, but the singer cannot seem to find the right ones to express how they feel. The singer searches for the perfect word in every language, wanting to find the one that will accurately convey their feelings. The verses also contain a sense of urgency, as the singer feels the need to find the right words before their chance is gone. However, in the end, the singer simply admits that they love the other person, plain and simple.
The chorus repeats the same phrase in three different languages: Greek (s'agapo), French (je t'aime), and Spanish (te amo), all meaning "I love you". This can be interpreted as the singer trying to find a way to express their love in different languages, hoping that the other person will understand the depth of their feelings.
Overall, the song conveys the struggle to express love in words and how sometimes, simple phrases are the best way to express it.
